About me and my therapy practice
"My promise to you: to reply when you make contact; to be ethical + professional; to only work in areas I'm trained and experienced in; to help and work with relationship ruptures especially in therapy because it provides precious valuable learning and growth; to offer unconditional acceptance, empathy and to hold you in positive regard, because you really matter!".
I am an integrative Therapist with over 24 years of experience and an MA in Psychotherapy and counselling. I am an accredited member of the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ and passionate about the healing power of counselling, psychotherapy and the capacity of the human psyche to heal, develop and grow. This belief, coupled with my training and experience, underpins how I work (with adults, one to one).
I have a high level of experience working with the following: low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, bereavement, trauma, relationship issues; confusion and work place stress. I have a special interest in: trauma; psychophysiological disorders and the mind/body connection, especially how the body can be used as a tool to bring about change and healing.
My approach is integrative; I draw on several different theoretical approaches to support my work and work differently with everyone because each of us and our needs and experiences are unique.
Training and Qualifications: MA in Psychotherapy and Counselling at Regent’s College in London; IFS (Internal Family Systems) Level 1; Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Level 1+2; CBT for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Trauma; Babette Rothschilds Somatic Trauma Therapy Training'; Certificate in Psychodynamic Counselling; Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy for Health and Well-being; Brief short term work. Each year I undertake Continuing Professional Development
I have experience and knowledge of the 12 step programme of recovery. I am a registered provider with BUPA, Aviva, Vitality, Cigna, and Helix Health Services Ltd.
Practice description
I have a light, airy, comfortable ground-floor private consulting room which is located in the CB4 area in North Cambridge.
I’m just off the A14, close to King Hedges Road and the Cambridge Science Park, and very close to the A10 and M11.
There is free, easy parking available.
The nearest bus stop (City 1 bus) is three minutes walk away (Armitage Way/Northfield Avenue stop).
I am within five minutes walk of the guided busway (Orchard Park bus stop).
The Cambridge North railway station is two miles away or a nine minute cycle ride.
My first session
The first contact, either by telephone, email or text, is an opportunity to explain what you’re struggling with and also to ask any questions. I offer a free 20min telephone or video appointment to give you an opportunity to see if we can make a good connection, prior making a booking.
Your first appointment is a two way process whereby you will talk about any symptoms you may have and what you need help with. I will be assessing your clinical need and you will be assessing me and discovering how I work; if you are comfortable, we can make further appointments.
