I offer consultations most evenings/weekends. Note that you can save quite a lot of time, money, and commuting drudgery by working online.
Rates shown are for Harley Street appointments. Rates for appointments in an alternative Central London location or online are considerably more affordable, as are concessionary and sliding-scale rates.
About me and my therapy practice
Were we to decide to work together, you would benefit from my experience as a chartered psychologist and a psychotherapist. With qualifications in coaching, mentoring, psychotherapy, and clinical supervision, I am an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and am Senior-Accredited with the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ (Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ). I hold a PhD in psychology and my areas of research interest focus mainly on obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and anxiety.
You and I will work in a context of curiosity, playfulness, and humour. When people are having fun, they discover more about themselves. We will draw conceptual diagrams, depict processes in your everyday life, and ensure that we conceptualise our evolving understanding of your circumstances. Typically, we will co-create some sort of between-session activity or experiment to "stack" your learning.
Practice description
Success is often depicted as a series of milestones achieved through talent, hard work, and perseverance. Yet, there’s a hidden dimension to success that goes beyond external accomplishments. The "secret language of success" includes understanding and overcoming personal emotional challenges that can impede our progress. Every successful individual has faced various personal challenges. Typically, the impact of such challenges goes unnoticed for quite some time. Anxiety can cause overwhelming stress, making it hard for us to focus and perform. Depression can sap energy and motivation, casting a shadow over our aspirations. Low self-esteem and self-doubt can inhibit our confidence, making us question our abilities and worthiness.
By recognising and managing anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and other struggles, we create a foundation for genuine and lasting success. Working on self-awareness and resilience not only enhances our personal and professional lives but also leads to a more fulfilling and balanced existence.
Picking the right therapist for you will turn out to be one of the most impactful decisions you'll ever make. Maybe now's the time for breakthrough discoveries and a brand new life you'll love. If you’d like a better sense of how we might work together, please be in touch to arrange a no-obligation 15-minute discussion about your circumstances.
My first session
It's completely normal to feel a bit unsure or even nervous about starting something new, especially when it comes to sharing personal thoughts and feelings. You’ll probably find it helpful to understand what you can expect from working with me… and to receive some reassurance, whether you’ve had therapy before or not.
In the first session, our primary goal is to get to know each other. I'll ask some questions to better understand your background, your current situation, and what brings you to therapy. This helps me understand how best to support you moving forward. You can share as much or as little as you feel comfortable with. There's no pressure to dive into everything right away.
This session is also an opportunity for you to ask any questions you might have about the therapy process... particularly if you've already tried CBT or another form of therapy and found your experience unhelpful. We’ll discuss what you hope to achieve and set some initial goals together. Remember, this is a safe, non-judgmental space where you can talk openly about whatever is on your mind.
It's also quite normal to feel slightly anxious or uncertain during the first session. Many people do. Starting therapy is a big step, and it might take a little time to feel comfortable. We’ll move at a pace that feels right for you, and we can take breaks if needed. Many people find the first session to be the hardest, but it gets easier as we build trust and understanding together.
By the end of our first session, you'll have a clearer idea of how we can work together and what the next steps are likely to be. Remember, this is your journey, and we'll tailor our approach to whatever feels best for you.
In the sessions which follow, we will tend to favour the use of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to look at how your thoughts affect your emotions and your everyday actions and experiences. In our ongoing work, I’ll help you learn how to understand those thoughts with curiosity and compassion.
