About me and my therapy practice
I emphasise transparency, authenticity, being non-judgemental and respectful.
As a psychologist specialising in psychotherapy, I draw on the main approaches (existential, psychodynamic, CBT) depending on what will be most helpful to you at whatever stage we are at in our work.
Research consistently shows it is the quality of the therapeutic relationship that is key.
I have twenty years experience as an integrative psychotherapist and counsellor. I have worked in the NHS and been training and supervising psychotherapists and psychologists for over fifteen years.
I aim to offer a confidential, non-judgemental space to carefully listen to what you bring, so that you can better hear yourself, and to create an environment in which your feelings can emerge, and be attended to, with a view to enabling you to move forward in your life with more clarity and confidence.
The use of the title Dr in this directory listing relates to the member’s doctorate qualification. However, this does not imply a general medical qualification.
Practice description
Being a person, in our everyday contemporary life, despite all the apparent advantages, can be psychologically tough, and everyone experiences difficulties in their own unique, particular way
I tailor my approach to meet your particular needs, mainly drawing on my trainings in existential and humanistic approaches. I will also incorporate principles from short-term approaches such as CBT where appropriate.
My first session
I work on the principle that psychotherapy should be tailored to meet your particular needs, rather than the other way around, so our first meeting we will discuss your particular needs and how we might best work together specifically for you.
It may be that you are experiencing stress, anxiety or depression in your life right now, or are experiencing relationship problems. It may be you have worries about the future, or want to understand past experiences. It may be something else altogether, or something difficult to talk about.
There is no set amount of time – it could be short or long term. Usually we will review how things are going once we have started.

About me and my therapy practice
Supervision is one of the most enjoyable aspects of being a therapist in my experience.
The confidential nature of our work, the unique existential encounter we have with our clients, and the containment that it involves, places considerable, and largely implicit invisible demands on the therapist. I see supervision as essential to support and enable us as therapists, who in turn need to support and enable our clients
I taught and worked as an internal supervisor for trainees on Docotoral, and Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ Accredited training programmes, for over ten years, including supervising supervision. I have worked with supervisees on a one-to-one basis in my private practice for a similar amount of time.
Practice description
Supervision is a unique place where we can be together, in a safe, professional space, to share the joys and challenges particular to relational psychotherapy work.
It is a place to reflect on what may be going on in our therapeutic relationships, to attend to sensitive and often vulnerable places within our awareness, to develop potency as a therapist and in doing so, ensure our clients receive the best possible care and attention at all times.
My first session
In the first session, I would like to know about your practice, and overview of your clients and how you like to work, as well as what you are looking for in supervision.
In my view, supervision should support and develop you as the therapist you already are, so the aim of the first session would be a two way assessment of how that might work.
