Availability
I offer individuals and couple clients sessions during the day on Thursdays in my home practice in Winchester. There is parking available on my driveway for up to two cars. My practice is located near Peter Symonds around a seven minute walk from the main line railway station.
I currently have some availability but will be taking two weeks leave over Christmas and New Year. I am working in London for part of the week.
About me and my therapy practice
I am an experienced Integrative Counsellor, and have been working for over 20 years with individuals first and then also with couple clients. Whilst originally qualifying as a Psychosynthesis counsellor I went on to train in Psychodynamic and Systemic therapies and as a Couples counsellor with Relate. I have been working integratively for the last 10 years incorporating CBT and solution focused tools into my work with Civil Servants and my private practice. In the last six years I have undertaken additional training in EMDR for trauma and in ACT Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
I offer face to face and on-line therapy for a wide range of issues including depression and anxiety, low self-esteem, bereavement, childhood issues, communication and other relationship problems.
Practice description
I can offer individuals and couples sessions in person or on-line.
I would recommend an initial assessment session for any individual wanting to come for therapy so that together we can look at the goals for the therapy and to determine the best approach either solution focused short term therapy or open ended therapy with a particular therapeutic outcome in mind.
With couple clients I offer a 12 session short term model meeting with clients for 90 minutes every fortnight. During the alternate week I offer my couple clients different exercises to practice. I find that by spacing the work out in this way clients have the opportunity to reflect on what has been discussed in session and practice the tools that I provide. At the end of the 12 sessions spaced over a four to six month period couples have more time to improve their communication and intimacy.
My first session
I strongly believe that working with the right therapist for an individual or a couple is key to achieving a good outcome from therapy. At the outset I offer a one hour initial assessment session for individuals and couples alike to establish the goals for therapy and talk through each person's family and relationship histories, health and any previous counselling experiences. This is also an opportunity for you to ask me any questions and for both parties to decide whether we are the right fit to work together moving forwards.
In the first session I will go through my therapy agreement with you reviewing confidentiality, my ethical framework, best practice and my cancellation policy. I will also provide you with information regarding data protection.
