About me and my therapy practice
People often don’t know exactly what is wrong when they come to me for therapy but know things feel too much and they are struggling to cope.
Some people feel they have tried everything they can think of to fix things and nothing seems to work. In therapy we can explore options together that can lead to positive changes.
Others might recognise that past events influence how they are coping with life today and need help to manage this.
Often people recognise they have been feeling low or anxious for a while and have decided they want to get some help in overcoming this.
Also dreadful things can just happen that totally derail us. With counselling I can help you make sense of the world again and support you getting back on track.
The first thing we notice when something is wrong for children and young people is a change in their behaviour. I can explore their feelings, in an age appropriate way, then they start to understand what is going on for them and what they can do to help themselves. This in turn helps them grow in confidence and is noticed by an improvement in their behaviour and overall happiness.
I can offer individual parenting support and help families adjust to a death, divorce or a new blended family.
I have had a private practice in Thame since 2014, prior to that 25 years working in the NHS, GP surgeries and for Rape Crisis.
I am an approved provider for most medical insurance companies and always happy to answer queries by email or arrange a time to talk on the phone, without charge, before booking an initial appointment.
Practice description
Therapy is a confidential, collaborative process and we would work together to reach your own individual goals.
I work from central Thame and draw from a range of therapeutic approaches and mindfulness practice to suit your specific needs. I’m can work using creative approaches and play therapy where appropriate too.
I have a particular interest working with teenagers and young adults and strongly believe in the benefits of early intervention and the potential advantages it can provide throughout a persons life.
I also have a special interest working alongside clients to overcome the difficulties and effects of childhood trauma and abuse.
I can work with you over a short or longer term, dependent on your individual requirements; to bring about the changes you require in order to reach your personal goal for therapy and enhance your general wellbeing.
Therapy is a learning process and afterwards clients inevitably have an improved knowledge of themselves and better coping mechanisms; these can continue to be advantageous when dealing with challenges later in life.
