About me and my therapy practice
I am a Accredited Counsellor based in central Winchester offering face to face counselling. For the past 15 years I have worked with young people and adults. My work has predominately involved drug and alcohol misuse and mental health, which can be a challenging but rewarding area to work in.
Alongside Mental Health and Substance Misuse I have also had experience in working with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Trauma, Relationships, and young people’s issues.
Other areas of counselling I can help with are those experiencing difficulties with coming to terms with the diagnosis of epilepsy and the unwanted side effects and other struggles those experience
Practice description
I work with many presenting and past issues, specializing in addictions, mental health, trauma and relationships
Addiction
In today’s climate it’s not just alcohol and drugs that are the problem, you can also find yourself addicted to gambling, sex, eating, exercise, shopping, pornography or the Internet.
Many people don’t see there is a problem until the day you realize that your life, your relationships or your work are suffering, or it maybe you find that you are consuming too much of your time or money feeding this behavior
Whether you are using drinking or using drugs recreationally I can help get your life on track
Mental Health
Let’s talk about Mental Health. What does this actually look like? Well having issues with mental health is nothing to be ashamed of. Felling anxious, stressed and depressed are now unfortunately very common in society and thankfully there is now more awareness and people getting help. Poor mental health can affect our physical and mental wellbeing as well. This can lead to having to take time off work and poor relationships with family and friends.
Experiencing Anxiety and Stress are now very common emotions people have become more aware off. Often your Doctor may prescribe anti-depressants and many people have ended up taking them for years when sometimes all that’s needed is for people to feel heard, without judgement in a safe environment
Epilepsy counselling
Having a diagnoses of a health condition can be challenging, especially when it brings unpredictability to your life, such as epilepsy can. Counselling gives you the opportunity to make sense of what has happened, happening and helping clients accept the condition.
My first session
During our first session we would discuss what you would like from counselling and what approach would work for you. We would explore the online assessment you completed and look at areas highlighted. We would also explore the contract to make sure you understand everything such as confidentiality and cancellations.
