Elizabeth Kubler-RossMy name is Debbie Britton and I am an experienced MÏã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ (Accredited) counsellor and mental health trainer working from my private room near Pocklington. I am within easy access of the A1079, York, Hull and surrounding villages. I also offer online and telephone sessions for those that prefer to work remotely or who are unable to travel.
Thank you for reading my profile and I hope it will help you to embark on your counselling journey. I am a warm, perceptive and experienced counsellor with a passion for helping clients to move forward in their lives.
I have worked as a counsellor and mental health trainer for over 12 years. Before this I worked in industry. I offer confidential, one-to-one support, to adults and young people age 16 upwards.
It has been an extremely difficult time over the last few years and we are still living in an uncertain world with many large scale events happening. I work with clients who would like to process their unique experiences. In particular those experiencing bereavement, grief, loss, change and transition.
I am really passionate about helping those who are struggling and believe that everyone is unique. Life can be very hard at times and taking time out to talk to someone who is respectful, non judgemental and listens empathically can help you to reflect upon and gain insight into your unique life experiences. An understanding of our dilemmas, emotions and experiences can help us to make sense of them and move forward.
I believe, no matter the difficulties we are facing, there is always hope. We are all human beings and sometimes get things wrong but this is a part of being human, non of us are infallible.

Carl RogersI work mainly from a humanistic integrative approach. The central aim of my counselling practice is not about telling you what to do, but promoting empowerment through the development of a trusting relationship where you can feel safe to get in touch with emotions and inner feelings. As an integrative counsellor I draw from my knowledge of other approaches such as mindfulness, relaxation, the use of creativity in therapy, REWIND working with trauma, and CBT techniques. I believe that everyone is unique, but that we often have problems in common. I will listen closely to your problems and work collaboratively with you.
Alongside my private practice I work with young people as student counsellor at Leeds University. My adult work has included NHS in Hull and York, counselling adults who have a wide range of mental health needs including; depression, anxiety, low self esteem, relationship issues, stress, eating and body image disorders, bereavement, panic attacks and anger management, loss, change and transition.
As your counsellor, I will offer you a private, confidential space, where you can be free to talk at your own pace, without judgement, about any concerns which are troubling you and help you to find clarity, make changes, heal, grow and move forward in your life.
Counselling is a powerful journey that can lead to a greater understanding of ourselves, promoting emotional and psychological recovery from an array of issues - past and present.

My first session
During our first session we would get to know each other and see if we think we can work together. It will also be an opportunity for me to gain an understanding of what you hope to achieve from counselling and to explain in more depth how counselling might help you.
If you choose to continue, counselling can offer you a safe space to explore your emotions, experiences, problems or decisions you have to make. You will have the chance to have your story heard, to express your feelings and to consider options. We can work together, at a pace that suits you, to help you find a way forward to a more satisfying and resourceful life.

Hi I'm a qualified Clinical Supervisor with experience of offering both 1-1 and group supervision and can offer this face to face or remotely.With over 13 years counselling experience working in private practice and in organisations, I know that balancing being a diligent practitioner with the necessity to practice self-care and run a business or work in an organisational setting is not easy and requires ongoing self-reflection/coaching.

That’s where my experience comes in to empathically support, challenge and empower you to stay on your path whilst sailing through sometimes rough waters with your clients.
In my supervision practise I offer an integrated approach based on the 7 Eyed Supervision model. I believe supervision is a working alliance based on openness, honesty and mutual respect, where you can be heard, supported, challenged and nurtured. Together in a supportive space we will engage and discuss your work, your feelings and ways to increase your personal development and growth. This two way process is offered as a safe and confidential space where you are safe to express your thoughts and emotions openly without fear of judgement or assumption. I hold a Post Graduate Level 7 Certificate in Supervision and I am an accredited member of the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ and follow their guidelines and work to their ethical framework. Fees £55.00 for 1 hour and £80 for 1.5 hours.

Whether it is because you are about to start a counselling placement and require a supervisor for the first time or because you need to change supervisors or find a new supervisor. It is important you feel comfortable that your supervisor can provide a supervisory relationship which meets your needs.
Practice description
I offer clinical supervision to counsellors, psychotherapists and other helping professionals. I have extensive experience of working both in private practice and in counselling organisations both as a counsellor and as a group facilitator and mental health trainer, I understand the complexities and differences of counselling practice in both areas from the different perspectives of working alone as a counsellor in private practice and as part of a counselling team in a large organisation. As a supervisor, I see my primary goal being to improve the quality of the work that my supervisee is undertaking with their clients. Quality supervision should provide a safe space for the therapist to step back and look at the therapeutic relationship between them and their client or supervisee. I believe there needs to be a solid supervisory relationship where the therapist feels supported, safe and is able to take risks. It should be a stimulating, motivational process in which challenge and reflection are very much a part. My aim is to promote the competence and creativity of my supervisee in a non-judgmental way, to enable the supervisee to grow and develop into the most effective therapist or supervisor they can be, to enable them to work skilfully and ethically with their clients or supervisees and importantly to develop their own therapeutic or supervisory style. Supervision should also ensure a duty of care to the supervisee and their clients, ensuring the maintenance of ethical and legal practice, as well as the continued professional development of the supervisee.
