About me and my therapy practice
So, what’s happening for you at the moment?
We all have moments in life that are difficult, where we need some support, someone to listen to us, understand and help us find our way. As a qualified, professional counsellor and psychotherapist, I want to bring empathy and attentiveness to our space, so that you can be heard. My room is a quiet space for reflective and exploratory work.
During counselling, we can learn about what is happening for you and what is causing you distress. Perhaps it is a current or past relationship, or you are feeling dissatisfied with life? You may have had an experience that you cannot get past, or anxiety is holding you back from achieving what you want? We can give time and space to your feelings and understand them more clearly, in a place where you won’t be judged. We can work together to come to terms with this experience, look at ways of managing difficult symptoms or find ways of making changes you want.
I am an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist which means I blend together different therapeutic approaches in my practice, helping me to work effectively with clients on a long and short term basis on wide range of issues and symptoms including:
anxiety
depression
bereavement and loss
stress
chronic illness, long term health conditions and their physical, emotional and practical impact
relationship issues - partners, ex partners, work colleagues, family, friends.
Experience of narcissistic behaviour in relationships
low self esteem
feeling stuck or lost in life
infertility and living a childless life
anger
abuse (including childhood abuse and neglect, physical, sexual and psychological)
PTSD, traumatic and painful experiences, including childhood abuse and domestic violence
bullying and emotional abuse
post natal depression
Practice description
I trained in the Relational model, this uses our experience of past relationships and relational patterns to make sense of our current ones. Understanding our relationships, including the therapeutic relationship, gives us chance to shape them in a way that better meets our needs and causes less emotional distress. Relational counselling also uses the warmth, genuineness and acceptance of person centred counselling. I blend this approach with other therapy styles including transactional analysis, CBT, IAPT Counselling for Depression, solution-focussed approach and compassion focussed therapy so we can work in a way that best suits your needs.
I work from a pleasant, modern city centre location that has great public transport links and easy parking options.
I also offer online counselling as well as face to face counselling.
