Practice description

Don't know whether you're quite ready for therapy, A Breakthrough session might be for you?

So what does breakthrough session mean?

A breakthrough is intended to change a persons relationship with their Eating Disorder. It could give insightful positive helpful insight with some coping mechanisms to help you move forward, without the commitment of Therapy.

It could be that you have done Therapy before and it hasn't worked and you're quite intrigued of what I could do differently with you. It could be you've had a really difficult experience with CHAMS/ eating Disorder service. You have some form of an eating disorder/disordered eating but feel you don't quite fit the system.

What would you bring to a breakthrough session?

Eating Disorder is come with a lot of shame guilt and anxiety. I know this as I had a binge eating disorder and anorexia. I'm not in your shoes and your story may be different to mine but I do have some understanding around the difficult feelings that you may be experiencing. It may give you a space to make sense of what is going on for yourself. In the session it's very motivational, gives you options to what to do next, it gives you a formulation that is different from every other kind of explanation. We will do a lifeline together which gives us a fantastic way of getting to know each other as well as to get an understanding of what is going on for yourself linking it together so you hold power and motivation for change.

It could be a bouncing board for ongoing therapy or you could do the three hour break free session and walk away and allow yourself time to process what is going on for you.

The assessment is charged at £160

Sessions £80 per hour

Breakthrough one off three hour no commitment session £300

My first session

During our first session together, we'll spend two hours getting to know each other and building a strong therapeutic relationship. This extended session allows us the time we need to establish trust, explore your concerns, and set goals for our work together.

One key focus of our initial session will be creating a lifeline to identify patterns of behaviour and experiences that have shaped your journey so far. This exercise can provide valuable insights into your past experiences, strengths, and areas for growth, laying the foundation for our work together.

Two hours can feel like a long time, especially when delving into deep and personal topics. Please remember that you are welcome to take breaks as needed during our session. Your comfort and well-being are important to me, and I want to ensure that you feel supported and at ease throughout our time together.

While two hours may seem like a significant investment of time, once we engage in meaningful conversation, the time tends to pass quickly. I will work at my best, providing guidance and support as we discuss the most important themes for you.

I aim to create a supportive and nurturing room that is understood and empowers you to explore your experiences and emotions where you feel openly. Together, we'll work towards gaining insight, healing past wounds, and building the skills and resilience needed to move forward.
