About me and my therapy practice

I am an experienced counsellor and psychotherapist working with adults in London and the Cotswolds. I offer my clients a confidential, safe and non-judgemental environment in which to work through whatever is challenging them. Over the years I have learnt how creating an environment of mutual trust where people feel heard and free to express themselves can facilitate real life changes.

I work with people of all ages and from different backgrounds and cultures. Before the pandemic nearly all my work was face-to-face. Today I find that some clients benefit most from meeting in person, while others prefer to work via remotely via Zoom. The latter option suits people who live too far away to be able to meet in person, or whose work schedule means that it is hard to commit to a weekly face-to-face slot.

You may have a specific issue that you wish to explore such as a relationship, stress, anxiety, panic attacks, your work life, or a recent event that has impacted you. In that case it might be appropriate for us to work together for a fairly short period of time to focus on this. Alternatively there may be something more deeply-rooted that is impacting you, or you may simply feel a desire to understand yourself better. In that case we might embark on a longer journey, taking in your sense of yourself, your relationship to others and to your wider environment.

Either way I hope that working with me you will find ways to manage difficult feelings, come to understand and trust yourself better, and feel able to make informed decisions to live the life you want to lead.

Taking the first step towards finding help is often the hardest part, and it’s important that you find the right counsellor / psychotherapist for you. This can feel daunting, so I have written a guide offering some suggestions, which you can find on my website. If you have any further questions about what working with me might involve, or about therapy more generally, then please feel free to get in touch.

Practice description

My Approach

My orientation is integrative, which means that I have been trained to create my own personal approach by drawing on a number of different schools of therapy. In particular I am influenced by psychodynamic, relational, humanistic and body psychotherapy.

What this means is that I don’t have a single off-the-shelf approach for every person I work with. Instead we will work together to identify the areas you want to explore and how best to approach them. Underpinning all the work is the working relationship we establish together.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold an Advanced Diploma and Masters in Psychotherapy and Counselling from the Minster Centre, one of the oldest and most respected integrative training courses in the UK.

I am accredited by the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ). My work is regularly supervised and I am fully insured.

As well as working in private practice, I have previously worked for Transport for London’s in-house Counselling and Trauma Service, for a leading primary care trust within the NHS in central London, and as a member of the counselling team at London Metropolitan University. As a result I have worked with people from a wide variety of backgrounds, religions and cultures.

Before training as a counsellor I worked in the music and media industries, so I know from personal experience what it is like to work in highly pressured environment.

I am registered with AXA and Aviva as a counselling/psychotherapy provider, so you may be eligible for therapy with me if they are your health insurer.

My first session

When you first make contact we will have a brief, free of charge conversation on the phone or via Zoom to discuss what you are looking for. If I think I can help, then we will arrange an initial session. This will offer an opportunity for you to gain a sense of what it would be like working with me, and for me to hear your story and understand your aims. During this time we will both get a feeling for whether we are a good 'fit'. You won't need to prepare anything in advance. This initial session will last up to an hour and will cost £65.
