About me and my therapy practice

Feeling stuck, sad or afraid? Weighed down by relationships, your emotions, your world? Find out if I can help you by taking the first step. Meet me for a free 20 minute video or phone consultation to discuss getting the support you need to move forward.

How can we make sense of our world just now? It can feel as if we aren't capable of managing our lives or our emotions, we can't see our way through difficult problems, or that we are unloved or ashamed of our thoughts and feelings. Sometimes it feels impossible to develop our intentions for creativity or change. Sometimes we find ourselves feeling paralysed or isolated.

I am interested in you and your story, and hope to help you by listening carefully, without criticism. By offering a new perspective, I can help you to shift from feeling stuck, or unable to move forward. The experience of being heard is useful in itself to alleviate confusion, anxiety or depression. I hope to help you appreciate and be yourself.

It could be that there are events from your past or fears for the future which need an airing with someone who is willing to provide calm acceptance, whatever you may bring. As a therapist, I hope to begin to understand you and develop further understanding together. This may be a quiet, reflective time or a more creative and active process. I will always check with you that we are working in a way that is comfortable and helpful to you.

For couples I can provide a place to talk honestly about the difficulties you are experiencing, and help you each feel heard and understood. My unbiased approach, which explores the patterns you find yourselves stuck with, can help you find a new way forward.

For those interested in unblocking or expanding their creative energy, I can offer a chance to work in a new and transformative way – Visual Medicine.  Ask me for more information about individual or group work.

Practice description

By integrating learning from a variety of respected theoretical models, I hope to offer a rich experience which can be developed together for your individual needs. For me, integration is also important as an idea for recognising the whole person – sometimes parts of ourselves which have been hidden or suppressed are as important as the image we project. Bringing these elements together as pieces of the puzzle that makes each of us unique, can help us feel whole and able to be ourselves, both for our own wellbeing and in our relationship with others.

My first session

I offer a free twenty minute video or phone call consultation, which can be valuable for us to meet, for you to briefly describe the nature of your difficulty and for me to introduce myself to you. You can then decide whether you would like to make an appointment for an online or face to face session.

Alternatively, I can offer an initial hour's online or face to face session at the reduced fee of £40. There is no obligation to continue, and you may wish to assess several therapists before committing to further sessions.

About me and my therapy practice

I am interested in you and your story, and aim to provide a safe and supportive time and space for you to express what is on your mind. I hope to help you by listening carefully and without judgement, so that together we may be able to understand what you are going through. Sometimes by offering a new perspective, I can help you to shift from feeling stuck, or unable to move forward. Sometimes the experience of being heard is useful in itself to alleviate confusion, anxiety or depression. I hope to help you understand and be yourself.

As a counsellor, I hope to begin to understand you and develop further understanding together. This may be a quiet, reflective time or a more creative and active process. I will always check with you that we are working in a way that is comfortable and helpful to you.

Walk and Talk. My interest in nature as a therapeutic force has helped me to develop another form of counselling which may appeal to those who love the great outdoors. Movement can help us feel more free to talk, whilst the impact of the natural world can encourage new perspectives. For some of us, the idea of sitting face-to-face and talking, is a block to seeking help. I am able to offer Walk and Talk counselling either around Brixham or Totnes. An initial session would take place first, in the usual way. Prices and session length to be discussed individually.

My first session

I offer a 20 minute telephone or video call free of charge. Alternatively I offer the first session discounted to £40 and without obligation to continue, as an initial opportunity to meet.
