About me and my therapy practice
Life can present challenges and changes that can feel overwhelming and hard to deal with. Sometimes it is difficult to cope and events and life stages can make us feel differently about the world we inhabit or force us into situations that we struggle to be in. I believe that I can help to provide an opportunity to explore where you are and what troubles you, in an environment that is non-judgemental, safe and confidential.
Working through difficulties can be uncomfortable and challenging and insightful and fulfilling. Helping to create an honest and trusting relationship with you in a warm and secure environment is crucial to helping with whatever you bring to therapy and to allow you to feel respected and heard.
Clients that I have worked with have said they have gained a sense of self-awareness through the counselling process, that has helped them to understand their difficulties. They have gained awareness of how sometimes past and present events or influences have shaped their view of themselves and others. The opportunity to talk through difficulties has allowed them to look at the possibilities of a better life for them and for those around them.
Counselling is an opportunity to review, heal and repair and I would work in a way that is manageable for you.
Practice description
I offer in person therapy at a designated therapy centre in Stanmore.
I also offer on-line therapy via Zoom, Teams or What's App video.
For most of the year I can offer walk and talk therapy sessions in Stanmore and Ruislip woodlands, subject to weather conditions. Please contact me if you would like to know more about this type of therapy.
My first session
Our initial contact will be by free telephone call to get an idea of what you are looking for and if I might be the right person for you.
The first one hour session is an opportunity for us to meet and get a feel for the therapy process and see if we can work together. The choice is yours.
Prior to the first session I will send you a short questionnaire to ask for details about yourself and your thoughts on why you feel you are coming to therapy and what you want out of it. This will give you time to reflect on your own needs before we start the therapy process and some clients have reported back that it is therapeutic in itself.

About me and my therapy practice
I became a Supervisor in 2016, having attained a Diploma in Integrative and Transpersonal Supervision at the Psychosynthesis Trust in London.
I work with trainee counsellors in groups and individually and also see qualified counsellor/psychotherapists, on a fortnightly or monthly basis. I work on-line and in person. I am currently also supervising designated safeguarding leads in secondary and primary education and work privately and for a North London charity.
Practice description
Having worked in Education, Hospital and Agency settings, as well as running a private practice for some 20 years, I have a broad understanding and knowledge of the complexities, constraints and requirements of these settings, particularly relevant for therapists in training.
My particular interest and experience is working with trauma, abuse and addiction. I have facilitated workshops on anxiety and domestic abuse and training in suicide prevention skills.
My theoretical approach has, over the years, developed and adapted to suit the client base. Psychodynamic and relational - may seem contradictory - but are key practices I use in building relationships with clients, supervisees and trainee therapists.
I am warm and approachable and like to work collaboratively and collegially. I can also challenge and encourage my supervisees to be the best they can be, whilst working within the ethical framework of their practices and the environments in which they work in.
I look forward to meeting you.
My first session

I offer a half hour initial free session, either by phone, on-line or in person. This is to give us an opportunity to see if we can work together and for you to make choices based on your own needs and wishes and to enhance your own practice.
Thereafter sessions can be fortnightly or monthly, depending on the number of clients you have and any requirements you might have externally, if you are in training.
