About me and my therapy practice
I have noticed over the years that most of my clients come to me experiencing confusion and inner conflict. I see my role as helping them find clarity and inner peace through non-judgmental, empathic listening combined with the use of tools such as drawing, guided visualisation and EFT where appropriate. I work in a relational way which includes noticing and being present with what is going on in the body as well as in the mind. My training was transpersonal, so I am also able to work with a client's spiritual life if they wish this.
Practice description
I have over 10 years' experience working with a broad range of issues (see below). I am also a qualified and experienced supervisor, having worked with both qualified and trainee therapists, in individual and group settings, and am a member of the core supervision team at CRUSE Scotland.
My first session
My first session is about us meeting and having a sense of whether we are a good fit and would be able to work well together. In order to know this for myself, I use this session to take a history of my client, so this session is much more structured than any subsequent sessions, where I will be present to what the client brings on the day. I allow ten minutes at the end of the session to see how it was for the client and what they would like to do. If they would like to continue, we contract for 4-6 sessions on a weekly basis and then follow this with a review to see where the client is then.
What I can help with
Abuse, Anger management, Anxiety, Autism spectrum, Bereavement, Cancer, Cultural issues, Depression, Eating disorders, Identity issues, Loss, OCD, Personal development, Phobias, Post-traumatic stress, Redundancy, Relationships, Self esteem, Spirituality, Stress, Trauma, Work related issues
