About me and my therapy practice
Welcome to Crookes Counselling.
Hello, I’m Debbie.
I believe in offering a relationship which has, at its heart, a respect for the individual and a willingness to listen in a non-judgemental way. I trust that you have the answers to the situation or difficulties you are experiencing; by understanding yourself and your situation in a clearer way, you will hopefully feel empowered to make choices and decisions to establish a way forward.
Being heard and understood, I believe, is one of the most powerful experiences we as humans can offer each other.
I have extensive experience working with young people (16 – 19 years) and adults, having managed a counselling service in a Further Educational college in Preston, Lancashire for 10 years. I have a broad experience of working with a variety of issues and situations in particular anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties and bereavement.
I moved to Sheffield five years ago to be near family. I am excited to be offering counselling locally to the Crookes community and beyond.
I work at The Practice Rooms in Broomhill, S10 2SE.
Accessing counselling can feel a daunting prospect for some, if you would like to know more about me and my approach do visit my website at www.crookescounselling.co.uk.
Alternatively, you can phone or email me and I will endeavor to answer your questions or concerns.
Practice description
I am qualified In Person Centered Counselling.
As part of my personal and professional development I have undergone a variety of workshops and training modules throughout the years in various other models of counselling.
My first session
Our first session will be an hour in length. I will begin the session ensuring that the boundaries of confidentiality, records I keep and what you can expect are clear (these will have been sent via email to you prior to the session). This will take a few minutes. After this, the time is yours.
There is no pressure to talk about anything that feels uncomfortable or difficult. I do not fix an agenda; I will always be guided by you as to what you would like to share.
At the end of the first session, you can then decide whether you would like to arrange further sessions.
I also offer an initial 30-minute session for you to explore whether counselling is right for you.
