About me and my therapy practice
Hello, my name is Luz, a bilingual therapist providing online therapy services to English speakers in Spain. I am originally from Madrid but have lived in the UK for over 30 years, which has given me a unique perspective on the challenges and experiences of living between two cultures. With a background in cultural anthropology, my work is deeply informed by my understanding of cultural dynamics, helping me to provide culturally competent care to my clients.
I am a qualified therapist and clinical supervisor with more than a decade of experience, specialising in Gestalt therapy, an approach focused on being present in the moment and addressing immediate thoughts and feelings.
In my practice, I prioritise building a strong therapist-client relationship and aim to create a non-judgmental, understanding, and safe space for you to express your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Together, we will navigate your challenges and work towards finding new, effective ways to approach them.
Throughout my career, I have assisted individuals dealing with a wide range of issues, with a focus on long-term health conditions, sexual health, and relationship challenges. I also help with integrating intercultural experiences and navigating issues related to gender and sexuality.
My commitment to an LGBTQ+ affirmative and culturally competent practice ensures that you will find a welcoming, inclusive, and secure space to explore your thoughts and feelings with me. I respect and support all my clients, regardless of their backgrounds or identities.
Fluent in both English and Spanish, I can accommodate clients who prefer to communicate in their native language. My therapy sessions are conducted online via Zoom, offering greater accessibility and convenience. If you would like to learn more about my services or schedule an appointment, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Practice description
My therapeutic approach is based on Gestalt therapy, a holistic method that underlines the importance of the present moment and the 'here and now'. I strongly believe in the power of the therapeutic relationship and strive to create an empathetic and non-judgmental environment where you can feel safe to explore your feelings, thoughts, and experiences.
My work with clients involves an integrative approach, incorporating a variety of theories and techniques tailored to each individual's unique needs. I firmly believe in everyone's capacity for growth and change, and my aim is to support my clients as they navigate life's challenges and develop new insights and perspectives.
My first session
Our first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and for you to share your concerns and goals for therapy. I will begin by asking about your background, current situation, and what you hope to achieve from therapy. Any questions or concerns you might have about the therapeutic process will also be addressed.
Together, we will develop a treatment plan that caters to your unique needs. I will explain my therapeutic approach and how it could be beneficial for you. We will also discuss the timing and schedule of sessions, along with details about my fees and any other practical aspects.
The first session is priced the same as subsequent sessions, and there is no requirement for an assessment prior to it. My goal is to establish a safe and non-judgmental space where you feel comfortable sharing your thoughts and feelings, and where we can collaborate towards positive change in your life.
If you have any questions about the first session or would like to schedule an appointment, please feel free to reach out to me.
