About me and my therapy practice

I have a BA (Hons) degree in Counselling and am an experienced therapist having worked in a Bristol counselling agency for several years as well as for many years in private practice. My client base is diverse and varied and comprises both individual clients, and couples, often with a focus on family, work and relational issues.

Counselling provides a therapeutic space to create opportunities to effect change. My original Therapeutic training was Humanistic with a person centred ethos. I then developed a more integrative approach through further training and continuing professional development. I draw on elements from several other modalities which I think are most suited to client needs and objectives. I subscribe to Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ's Ethical Framework.

Practice description

I offer a blended approach of in-person sessions, sessions via Zoom and some telephone counselling. Sessions are for 50 minutes.

My first session

For potential clients who are unsure if counselling is the right way forward, or for those who would like to understand how I work in more detail, I offer our first meeting together as an assessment. This can be either in-person or via Zoom. We are then able to discuss and consider the issues to be explored and I can answer any questions or concerns in context. This assessment meeting gives us the opportunity to discuss whether we are a good fit and can work together in a collaborative way.  If we choose to go ahead, we will agree an estimated time scale and this will be frequently reviewed. Between six to twelve sessions may be adequate to work through a particular issue but sometimes two to three sessions will suffice. Longer term work can be necessary for more complex situations. If I feel it appropriate for a referral to be made elsewhere, I will discuss this with you.

Assessment meetings are in the form of a 30 minute consultation and are charged at a reduced rate of £20.
