About me and my therapy practice
Hi my name is Chris and I have been working as a counsellor for over 20 years. As well as having a small private practice I spent 12 years counselling parents in schools. They came with a variety of concerns - domestic abuse, loss and bereavement, sexual abuse, lack of confidence and self esteem, trauma and adverse childhood experiences.
Experience has confirmed for me that a relationship of trust, understanding and empathy needs to be developed before personal growth can start - I feel this is my area of strength. I provide a safe non judgemental space where there is the freedom to say what is troubling you and to fully explore your feelings and thoughts encouraging self empathy and facilitating self acceptance and personal growth.
Practice description
I believe that counselling provides a unique opportunity to focus on just you. In our sessions I will be fully present and you will be actively heard and understood. We will explore together, at your pace, what is concerning you, giving space for all your thoughts and feelings.
Sessions are an hour and held weekly.
My first session
I offer a free 20 minute meeting to see if we want to work together. I believe it is important to find a counsellor you feel comfortable with.

About me and my therapy practice
I have been supervising trainees and qualified counsellors for over 10 years after obtaining my Diploma in supervision in 2008. I am supervisee centred - focussing on the supervisee and how they are working with their clients with the aim of empowering the supervisee to work safely and effectively thus enabling the supervisee to find and gain confidence in their own way of working.
Practice description
Sessions are supervisee led and are a very dynamic space to explore the important work you are doing and the therapeutic relationship you are developing with your client.
Although my counselling training is humanistic - person-centred, Transactional Analysis, Gestalt and Existentional - I have a very good knowledge of attachment theory and think psychodynamically.
Sessions are held at my home.
