About me and my therapy practice

Hi, My name is Chris Simonite. I am a fully qualified Integrative Psychotherapist, Registered with the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ (Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ) and College of of Sexual and Relationship Therapists (COSRT).


I work with an integrative approach to therapy with a particular focus on the 'I, thou relationship'. It is well documented that the therapuetic relationship is a large predictor of outcome. I work with individuals and couples, within the normal realms of inetgrative therapy and psychosexually if and when reuqired. 

 

My specialities are addictions (sex, substance, behavioural), trauma (developmental and episodic), personal development, relationships, psychosexual issues and  anxiety.


Experience & Qualifications:

2005 – 2007: Cert HE Cognitive Behavioural Therapy -Sheffield Hallam University.

2007 – 2008: Group Counsellor – Drug & Alcohol Rehab.

2008 – 2013: One to One Family Support – Support for Families of clients entering into substance misuse rehabilitation.

2010 – 2011: Joined Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ (British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists) as a Student Member.

2011 – 2012: Diploma in Integrative Counselling – CPPD London.

2011 – 2013: One to One Counsellor – Working with addiction and underlying issues such as loss, trauma, anxiety, depression, sexual dysfunction etc.

2012 – 2013: Advanced Diploma in Integrative Psychodynamic Counselling – CPPD London.

2014- 2016: Level 7 Diploma in Psychosexual and Relationship Counselling –

2015: Joined COSRT (College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists) as a general member.

2016 – 2017 : Diploma in Traumology (working integratively with trauma) NAOS London

2017 – 2018 Level 7 Advanced Diploma in Relationship Counselling (advanced skills in working with couples conflict, intimacy issues, betrayal and relationship breakdown) NAOS London

Practice description

I with clients in person, via telephone and video calls to suit the client need and convenience. I work from my home office in the Derbyshire Countryside of Glapwell, equidistance from Chesterfield and Mansfield.

My first session

My first session consists of a normal 50 minute session, to acscertain need and whether we would be a good fit for each other. I have a Humanistic aproach to assessment in that I beleive it is ever evolving and by nature ongoing. I work at a person to person level with particular attention paid to leveling the perceived power imbalance. With that in mind my office has a non-clinical, homely feel to it.
