About me and my therapy practice
BUPA recognised Therapist.
Therapy is increasingly being shown as an effective way of dealing with a wide variety of personal issues. I would be wrong to say absolutely that therapy will work for you or that it is right for everyone, but I do know that I have worked successfully over fifteen years with many people for whom it has made a significant difference - to themselves, their relationships, and how they live their lives.
I believe we are all on a journey towards health and wholeness, the road to healing can often be difficult to navigate. Life challenges can result in feelings of anger, depression, anxiety, loss of control, but these same struggles can be opportunities for growth.
I will walk with you on your journey of self-discovery, together we will uncover your unique strengths, develop your coping skills, increase your self-confidence, and work towards restoring balance in your life.
My therapeutic approach is integrative humanistic, which just means that I am trained in more than one approach. The strength of my approach rests on forging a genuine, durable and trusting therapeutic relationship, aiming to provide therapy in a safe and confidential environment, where you will be heard, but not judged, nor told what to do. You can use therapy to help you think more clearly, make decisions and/or changes in your life or come to terms with difficult past and present experiences. You cannot always change your circumstances, but you may find easier ways of dealing with it.
Practice description
I usually work both remotely and face-to-face. However, In the face of social distancing measures required in our Covid-19 crisis, I am now working solely online. This is a good option for people living in rural or remote areas. It offers accessibility to people who are disabled or housebound, or who are unable to leave their home for various reasons. Online therapy can also be more convenient for some people as they can often schedule their therapy sessions for times that are most convenient for them.
My first session
As I am currently working remotely, our first session will take place online on a platform of your choice. It will be an opportunity for us to get to know each other and get an idea on how to proceed. For example, in our second session, we may explore a specific symptom, problem, or past trauma you mentioned in the first session. I will ask you questions about your history, including your childhood, education, relationships, your current living situation, and your career. We will look at the contents of the therapeutic contract, which provides information about the practical side of coming to therapy. It is an opportunity for you to ask any questions and seek clarity on the therapeutic process, so that you can make an informed decision to proceed.
