About me and my therapy practice
I am an integrative counsellor and inclusive of all folks. I combine different modalities to support people to heal in a way that is true to themselves. Like many, I have experienced traumatic and unpleasant life events, and I innately knew I needed to heal as my woundings were deep and painful. It was through my journey of self-exploration I realised I wanted to support other people.
I believe my willingness to deeply and profoundly explore my inner world, means I can support you to go to the depths that feel comfortable for you in your therapeutic journey.
My practice comes from a place of self-inquiry and lived experience. This has been a life learning for me, one I chose, so I can facilitate and support other people during their journey of self-awareness, reconnection, and healing.
I have spent my adult life in various supporting roles: supporting men and women using somatic and hands on therapies, working with adults in hospice settings, supporting young people and their families, and running women鈥檚 groups.
Alongside my traditional training in counselling, I hold a keen interest in the healing power of nature and have trained in alternative approaches such as Shamanic practices. I hold a degree in Chinese medicine and acupuncture and have trained in other healing modalities.
Practice description
My approach has been described by previous clients as supportive, collaborative, safe and honest. I am broad-minded, inclusive of all folks, bringing equality and a sense of belonging into the clinical environment.
When we engage in this integrative practice we will work at your own pace and time. This may include looking at how the past influences the here and now and exploring the different parts that make up the whole person. We may explore ways to cultivate self-compassion, self-forgiveness and self-acceptance. If appropriate we can incorporate nature-based practices into the therapeutic space. I understand how the body stores unspoken information, and how the body can speak to us through the felt senses. Therefore, we may integrate somatic work, as I am I trained in Somatic Trauma Therapy and have practised bodywork for over twenty years.
I am interested in the field of, healing, trauma, self-inquiry, self-identity, women, LGBTQ+ and mental health. I am an avid learner, currently continuing my counselling training in Somatic Trauma Informed Therapy.
I offer face-to-face, outdoor walk and talk, and online sessions.
My first session
Our first session is an introductory meeting which averages around 20 minutes. This is a no fee discussion which enables you to meet with me to see if I am a good match for you, and whether it feels right for us to work together.
I charge 拢50 per therapy hour, but I do offer some concessions as I believe all people have the right to access this type of therapy, and therefore want to provide the opportunity to people who are on low income, or in receipt of benefits. These spaces are limited and won鈥檛 always be available. This can be discussed at the introductory session.
For those who can afford and would like to 鈥減ay it forward鈥, donations are welcome to help others in less financially stable situations access this service.
