About me and my therapy practice
About Me
As a qualified Humanistic psychotherapeutic counsellor, I offer therapy for adults in Twickenham and the surrounding areas. My training encompasses Gestalt, Person-Centred, and Transactional Analysis therapies, providing me with a diverse toolkit to support your individual needs. I have experience in both short-term and long-term counselling.
Alongside my private practice, I work at an NHS clinic, and at the Kingston Women's Centre.
As part of my commitment to ongoing professional development, I am currently undergoing advanced psychotherapy training at Metanoia Institute, to further develop and deepen my skills, in order to provide you with the best possible care.
My Approach
My practice is grounded in a holistic approach and humanistic principles, meaning I take into account the full range of factors that make up your unique experience, including your thoughts; feelings; past experiences; and current circumstances. I also fully believe in your capacity to make the best choices for yourself and enact positive change when given the right support; this is the essence of 'humanistic' therapy. In practice, this means I use a variety of techniques and methods, rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.
I adapt my style to what works best for you, drawing from different therapeutic tools as needed. For instance, we might explore how past experiences influence your present feelings; examine how you relate to yourself and others; or look at practical steps to manage current challenges. The aim is to create a tailored approach that fits your unique situation and supports you to work towards your personal goals.
At the heart of my approach is an open and collaborative way of working that honours your autonomy. I firmly believe that you possess the inner strength and resources needed to put into place the changes that you would like to see in your life; our work together aims to support you in accessing these.
Practice description
What to Expect
In our sessions, you can expect a confidential, compassionate, and non-judgemental space.
I place great importance on building a strong therapeutic relationship (or ‘working alliance’), as I believe this usually forms the foundation of successful therapy. This means I fully understand the need to build and earn trust first, and that this can take some time. I will therefore always aim to work collaboratively and at a pace that suits you. Our work together will take place in a safe, supportive, and holding environment where we can explore your thoughts and feelings freely.
How I Can Help
Throughout our sessions, our work can include, but will not be limited to, supporting you in:
• Navigating current challenges in your life
• Exploring the relationships you have with yourself and others
• Examining ingrained assumptions you may have about yourself and your life, considering how these might influence your present circumstances
• Making decisions that align with your values and goals
• Recognising and developing your inherent capacity for positive change
Session Structure
Sessions will be 50 minutes long, usually on a weekly basis, at £65. My approach tends to be more open-ended, allowing us to work at a pace that suits you. We will have regular reviews to ensure you're getting what you need from our sessions and to discuss how you feel the work is progressing.
While I often work on a longer-term basis, my NHS work has been in a time-limited, short-term setting, meaning I can cater for both. We can discuss what timeframe might be most beneficial for you during our initial consultation.
