About me and my therapy practice
I believe we are all unique individuals & while we may all experience similar life events, how we perceive these events & cope with them will be different for each of us.
Therefore, I treat every client as a unique individual & work with whatever they bring into our session.
You may need a safe space to express what you are feeling & holding. You may need to understand why you have the feelings you do. You may want to dig deeper to see where the feelings come from. You may want to make changes in your life. Whatever your need is I am here to listen, hold & guide you in a safe, non judgemental & confidential space.
If at any point I feel I'm not the right person to be helping you & I feel you need a more specific therapist I will discuss this with you & refer you to someone more appropriate if this is what you wish.
Practice description
Being a person centred therapist I will provide a safe, confidential, positive space with no expectation or judgement.
I believe my clients have their own solutions to their problems & my role is to assist them to identify them, recognise their strengths & build on them.
I'm here to listen to you & allow you to express your feelings, share & ease your burden of what you are holding onto, enable you to see the changes you would like to make & support you achieve them.
I may make some suggestions of practices you can try, but never with any pressure, that is always your choice.
I practise mindfulness & breathing techniques & am happy to incorporate these into the session if that is something you are comfortable with.
I can offer creative interventions if appropriate & the client is willing.
We will always work at a pace that suits you, usually once a week, but over a time that is suitable for you to bring about effective positive change &/or enhance your wellbeing.
My first session
I am always happy to have a brief chat with interested clients if they are undecided whether to go ahead & answer any questions.
At the beginning of the first session I explain the way I work, setting the boundaries of the relationship, being very clear about the importance of confidentiality. I will give you a copy of everything I discuss so you have the information as I appreciate it can be a lot of information & you may be feeling nervous.
