About me and my therapy practice
My name is Elisa, I'm a therapist and psychologist in Cambridge and London. I offer long-term and short-term therapy to adults, in English and Italian.
I have worked in NHS settings, NGOs, and university counselling services. I have experience with a range of issues, including anxiety, depression, loneliness and isolation, low self esteem, eating disorders, bereavement, panic attacks, sexuality and gender identity, trauma, abuse, domestic violence, and more. Along with my work as a therapist, I have been a researcher and academic for several years.
Psychotherapy can help reducing anxiety and other emotional distress. Crucially, it can support you in understanding the root causes of your suffering. Challenges and difficult patches are inevitable in life and talking about these in a safe, non-judgemental space can be transformative. Therapy can also be an exciting space for self-exploration and growth.
As a therapist, I offer a warm, confidential, and supportive space where you can talk about your feelings openly, at a pace that suits you. Please have a look at this page and my website to find out more about me and how I may help you.
Practice description
My approach is integrative, meaning that I draw from different traditions of psychotherapy to tailor my support to each person. Attachment theory, psychoanalytic psychotherapy, and humanistic approaches are all central to my practice.
I work in a trauma-informed way. This means that I am aware of how trauma affects the body, and that, if you wish to explore traumatic experiences, I will use a range of techniques that can help us to do so safely.
Trauma can be brought about by a single acute event but also by enduring experiences of oppression, such as racism, homophobia, and transphobia. My practice is informed by a multicultural sensitivity and is queer and trans affirmative.
I am a relational therapist. I believe that our inner world is shaped by the kind of relationships we have with those close to us, starting from the earliest caregiving relationships. I will pay attention to the kind of expectations, hopes, and fears that you bring into relationships. These expectations may sometimes show up between us too, and exploring this may bring about much self-understanding.
Training and qualifications
I am a qualified integrative counsellor. I have undertaken five years of training at The Minster Centre, which is one of the longest-established training institutions in the UK and Europe for integrative psychotherapy.
I am registered with the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ (Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ) and abide by their Ethical Framework.
I am also a chartered psychologist (CPsychol) registered with the British Psychological Association.
