About me and my therapy practice
What do you need? You may or you may not be able to answer that question right now. But, considering you are here, you have recognised and acknowledged a need to talk through your thoughts/feelings/experiences. Good on you for taking that first step and I wish you well on your journey. With the right counsellor and client match, counselling really can be magical in the way of its transformational effects. I know how tricky it can be to find the right therapist so to try and simplify the process to assist you with getting the best results for you, I will share a little about me so you can consider if we might work well together.
I am a person-centred counsellor that takes a non-directive approach. At the start of our journey, I work with my clients to see what they would like to explore further. We will then start our work with this. However, should other things to explore arise throughout our journey together, my non-directive approach allows my clients to bring these to our sessions. It allows for both my clients and I to work flexibly together and bring our true self. Having witnessed many of my clients on their own commendable personal journeys, I have a strong appreciation for the value of clients being supported to take the lead in their own journeys.
Practice description
I work with clients in a range of different areas and, ultimately, work on what the client expresses they would like to work on. However, I promote authenticity and autonomy and for this reason, connection to self is promoted throughout my work with clients. Having the ability to understand and connect to ourselves is vital for our well-being and interaction with ourselves, other people and the world around us. Being able to connect to yourself is helpful in reaching authenticity and autonomy where you can truly understand yourself, feel empowered, feel more in control and trust you are living in a way that makes you feel good and aligns with your beliefs and values. The ability to connect to self can be impacted by our life experiences, our interactions with people and ourselves. Sometimes, our thoughts, feelings, behaviours and/or unprocessed experience(s) can become so overwhelming that we become consumed and lose clarity and focus. We can end up finding it difficult to connect to ourselves which can result in us not meeting our physical, intellectual, emotional and social needs.
I can provide you with a safe and confidential space that is free of judgement, for you to explore and unpack your thoughts, feelings and experiences. I wish to support and encourage you to be able to reflect and gain insight that provides you with an understanding of you and your experiences and what you need, at a pace that is comfortable for you. This will enable you to move forward in a way that is positive for you and will benefit you in areas (that include but are not limited too!) creating and maintaining positive relationships with yourself and other people, making decisions in your personal and professional life, setting boundaries and being able to take care of yourself in a way that is productive for your well-being.
My first session
In our first session, we will look at how we can work together and what we can work on together. We will go through a contract (working agreement) If we continue to work together, we will both sign this contract (working agreement) and begin our therapeutic journey.
If you have any questions and/or would like to book a session, please feel free to contact me.
I hope to hear from you soon.
Thank you for your consideration.
