About me and my therapy practice
I have experience in working with clients from all backgrounds, and have worked with a vast range of presenting issues. I also have a deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by LGBTQIA+ individuals, offering support to those navigating feelings of loneliness, identity issues, low esteem and the complexities of coming out. I have extensive experience working with anxiety, depression, and trauma, particularly as these issues intersect with LGBTQIA+ identities.
My approach to therapy is mainly person-centred, combining elements of cognitive-behavioral therapy and mindfulness and is always tailored to the individual needs of each client. I believe in the power of a validating therapeutic relationship and strive to empower my clients through a journey of self-discovery and acceptance.
In addition to my clinical practice, I am an advocate for LGBTQIA+ rights and mental health awareness. I am known for my empathetic and open-minded approach, and I am deeply committed to supporting each client's unique path towards wellbeing, growth and authenticity.
My counselling journey started 11 years ago in 2013- and although my end goal was to be able to facilitate a safe, non -judgemental and understanding space for others to explore their own experiences/emotions and create change, there was also a lot of self reflection and growth needed in order for me to understand and be my authentic self, to be able to be there for my clients and sit with them in their own experiences
I have had many hours of counselling myself and am very aware that it can be far from easy, and there is no overnight fix, but it can be life changing and transformational. For me, the deeper the relationship with my therapists developed, the more safe and open I became- and that’s where the real change happened. I’m a firm believer that the most powerful relationship we will ever have is the one we have with ourselves.
I also have experience in teaching counselling students in their first year of training
My first session
I offer a free 15 minute phone/online call for you to get a feel for me and the way we could work together- to create change. We can discuss your goals and expectations, and I can answer any questions that you may have. I will be asking questions to get to know and understand you better, and reflect on how I can best support you in our working relationship together.
Online sessions will be for 50 minutes and charged at £60. I can be flexible with hours and days from Monday through to Sunday.
