About me and my therapy practice

Life can be challenging and having a counsellor to walk alongside you is a powerful way to process thoughts, feelings and support the changes you want to make. You are not alone-life events can be disorientating and I can help guide you to think and feel with more clarity. I'll work alongside you to further your self understanding, identify unhelpful patterns which are no longer serving you and offer you tools to gain more self-acceptance and self-compassion.

I work predominantly with anxiety and low self-esteem. I have guided many people towards letting go of unhelpful patterns and gaining more self-acceptance. The people who have worked with me describe me as warm and open with a non-judgmental approach yet challenging when this is required.

Therapy is a safe place to explore your authentic self and potentially find more self-acceptance for all parts of self even those that may have been subconsciously rejected. Inclusivity is a key value which underpins my practice.

In addition to working from my Edinburgh office, I offer walk and talk therapy-using nature to support the therapeutic process and use Cramond Foreshore and the Lauriston Castle grounds for this purpose.

Practice description

I am curious to discover more about your internal world and processes. Through building a trusting relationship we can together seek to understand and explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours-subconscious and conscious.

Through this deeper understanding it is possible to decide whether these thoughts, feelings and behaviours are still serving you well. Or whether new directions and ways of being would be more joyful and freeing.

I will not offer advice or solutions but will guide you towards gaining more clarity within your internal world, to support you to make the changes you want to make.

Transactional Analysis talks about the concept of script. That we all have a narrative and way of being which we have learned from a very young age. Together we can discover your personal narrative and understand how it serves you in the here and now.

My first session

I offer a 15 minute introductory call for those who want more information and to see if we are a good fit-the therapeutic relationship is an important element of the process.

I then have clients complete an initial intake form before the first session to understand client expectations and hopes around the therapeutic process.  In the first session we then discuss key areas and themes which the client wants to cover in their therapy.
