About me and my therapy practice

Are you...

Unhappy in aspects of your life, wanting to assess and make changes?

In need of help to manage life’s challenges and stresses?

Not feeling right, ‘not yourself,’ feeling low?

You don’t have to do this by yourself - I can help.

Having someone by our side, to listen and help us to navigate through these times can be hugely beneficial

Talking to someone outside of your daily life in a non-judgemental and confidential environment, which is just for you, can enable you to explore issues, see new perspectives and bring about the understanding or changes you want to improve the way you are feeling and have a more fulfilled and happier life.

With the speed of life today we can also benefit from a regular ‘health check’ about where we find ourselves. A stop, to consider how we are feeling about the various aspect of our lives such as relationships, family and work, can be extremely beneficial. Self-care is important. In looking after ourselves and applying our own oxygen mask through talking therapy, we can gain the energy and capability to better manage our lives and the multiple demands we face. It can facilitate us taking control of what we want from life, understanding and accepting areas we need to examine and recognise any changes we want to make.

Practice description

I believe in the power of talking therapy and how empowering it can be. It can transform lives, improve the way we feel about ourselves, and help our relationships and the way we relate to people for the better.

As a professionally trained Psychodynamic Counsellor, I believe that to understand more about the feelings you are experiencing we need to look at the influence of the past on the present. By understanding some of the unconscious processes at play, identifying patterns of behaviour that may be repeating, you can understand more about yourself, discover what you want and find the right path for you to move forward.

My first session

I will understand that you are taking a big step in coming to therapy and I will look to make this as easy as possible for you. Whether you are coming because you are experiencing a specific problem or you feel the time is right to embark on a longer-term journey of self-exploration, I will offer a personal, confidential, supportive and therapeutic environment where you can explore and make the positive changes needed for you to move forward.

I offer a free initial 20-minute telephone or zoom session where you can decide if I am someone that you feel comfortable to work with. After this session there is no obligation at all to return to therapy although, of course, I hope you will want to.

If we move ahead together, I will listen to you, explore what you are bringing and work with you to develop an approach to our sessions that is tailored to your individual needs and concerns, whether they are long standing issues or more current concerns. Together we will work on understanding what is needed for you to feel better and move on with your life.
