About me and my therapy practice
As an integrative counsellor, my approach is flexible and tailored to each client's unique needs. Here's an overview of how I work:
1. Therapeutic Approach:
I draw from multiple modalities, including person-centered, psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, and existential therapies.
My foundation is built upon Carl Rogers' core conditions: empathy, unconditional positive regard, and genuineness.
2. Client-Centered Focus:
I believe in the client's innate capacity for growth and self-direction.
My role is to facilitate the client's self-discovery and personal development.
3. Cultural Sensitivity:
I have experience working with diverse populations, particularly Black, Asian, and minority ethnic (BAME) clients.
I strive to create an inclusive and culturally sensitive therapeutic environment.
4. Neurodiversity Affirming:
I have specific training in working with neurodivergent clients.
I adapt your approach to meet the unique needs of individuals across the neurodiversity spectrum.
5. Flexibility in Session Format:
I offer both in-person and online/telephone counselling sessions.
This flexibility allows me to accommodate various client preferences and circumstances.
6. Ethical Practice:
I operate within the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ's ethical framework, ensuring professional standards are maintained.
7. Holistic Perspective:
My background in life coaching allows me to incorporate goal-setting and problem-solving techniques when appropriate.
I consider the whole person, not just presenting symptoms.
8. Continuous Professional Development:
I regularly engage in supervision and ongoing training to reflect on and improve my practice.
9. Areas of Expertise:
I work with a wide range of issues including: anxiety, depression, work-related stress, suicidal ideation, illness, sexuality, bullying, existential concerns and many more.
10. Collaborative Approach:
I view the therapeutic relationship as a partnership.
I work with clients to set goals, review progress, and adjust the therapeutic approach as needed.
Practice description
Welcome to my counselling practice. I'm Rosie Hill, an integrative counsellor dedicated to supporting you on your journey of self-discovery and growth.
What to Expect:
1. A Warm, Accepting Environment: When you step into our sessions, whether in-person or online, you'll find a safe, non-judgmental space. Here, you're free to express yourself without fear of criticism or rejection.
2. Tailored Approach: I don't believe in one-size-fits-all therapy. Our work together will be as unique as you are. I'll draw from various therapeutic approaches to best suit your needs and goals.
3. Cultural Sensitivity: As someone experienced in working with diverse populations, including BAME clients, I strive to create an inclusive environment that respects and values your cultural background.
4. Neurodiversity Affirmation: If you're neurodivergent, know that I have specific training in this area. I'll adapt our sessions to ensure they're comfortable and effective for you.
5. Collaborative Process: Therapy is a partnership. We'll work together to set goals, explore your experiences, and develop strategies that work for you.
6. Practical Tools: When appropriate, I'll incorporate techniques from cognitive-behavioural therapy and life coaching to provide you with practical tools for managing challenges.
7. Regular Reviews: We'll periodically review our progress to ensure you're getting what you need from our sessions.
8. Confidentiality: Your privacy is paramount. Our sessions are confidential, with limits that I'll clearly explain at the outset.
9. Empowerment: My goal is to help you tap into your own inner resources. I believe in your capacity for growth and will support you in recognizing and utilizing your strengths.
If you have any questions or would like to schedule an initial session, please don't hesitate to reach out. I look forward to the possibility of working with you!
My first session
Your First Session:
In our initial meeting, we'll focus on laying the groundwork for our therapeutic relationship. Here's what you can expect:
1. Paperwork and Contracting: We'll spend the first few minutes reviewing and discussing our counselling contract. This document outlines the terms and conditions of our therapeutic alliance. It's important that you understand and feel comfortable with these terms before we proceed.
2. Informed Consent: I'll ensure you have all the information you need about the counselling process and answer any questions you might have. Your informed consent is crucial before we begin our work together.
3. Getting to Know You: The majority of our first session will be dedicated to hearing your story. I'll invite you to share what brings you to counselling at this time. This is your opportunity to talk about your current challenges, concerns, or goals.
4. Active Listening: My primary role in this first session is to listen attentively. I may ask clarifying questions to ensure I understand your situation correctly, but the focus will be on you expressing yourself freely.
5. Background Information: We may touch on relevant aspects of your personal history, current life situation, and any previous experiences with therapy.
6. Setting Initial Goals: Towards the end of the session, we might begin to identify some initial goals for our work together. These can be adjusted as we progress.
7. Explaining My Approach: I'll briefly explain how I work and answer any questions you have about the counselling process.
8. Next Steps: We'll discuss the frequency of our sessions and set up our next appointment if you decide to continue.
Remember, this first session is as much for you to get a sense of me and how I work as it is for me to understand your needs. There's no obligation to continue if you don't feel it's the right fit. The most important thing is that you feel comfortable and heard in this initial meeting.
