About me and my therapy practice
Welcome, and thank you for visiting my profile. My name is Caroline, and I am a fully qualified Humanistic Person-Centered Counsellor, registered with the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ (Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ).
I have a background of knowledge within mental health and have worked within the NHS for over 16 years. I have since volunteered for several organisations including organisations offering counselling to adults and young people. My experience as a counsellor has given me the privilege of working with individuals facing a variety of life’s struggles, including anxiety, depression, children in care, trauma, loss and bereavement.
Life can be challenging, and it’s not always easy to know where to turn. This is where I come in, offering a compassionate, listening ear and providing you with the space to explore your thoughts and feelings through client-led sessions. My goal is to guide you on your journey of self-discovery.
Practice description
I provide one-on-one counselling for adults, young people, and children aged 11 and above. I believe that a person-centered approach empowers clients to explore their lives during challenging times or when they may struggle to understand their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. In addition, I incorporate a solution-focused approach in my practice— a practical, goal-oriented, and humanistic therapy that emphasizes building solutions rather than merely addressing problems. ( this I have found helpful to some of my younger clients I have worked with ).
For both adults and younger clients, a more creative approach—such as sand tray therapy, mask-making, or other techniques—can sometimes be beneficial. If this aligns with your preferences, I’m happy to offer these options.
I am passionate about fostering a positive, safe, and supportive environment tailored to each individual’s needs. I adhere to the core conditions of empathy, congruence, and unconditional positive regard, which I believe are essential for building a trusting therapeutic relationship. I always work ethically, maintaining confidentiality, and providing a non-judgmental space.
My first session
In our first session, we’ll start by gathering some background information and completing any necessary paperwork, followed by an exploration of your thoughts and feelings. You’ll have control over what you choose to share, and we’ll go at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
Sessions last 50 minutes, often referred to as the therapeutic hour. I offer a free 20-minute initial consultation to help determine if we’re a good match. Additionally, we’ll have a check-in every six weeks to review your progress and ensure the sessions are meeting your needs.
