About me and my therapy practice
The process begins with a free 15 minute telephone initial consultation, where I take the time to understand your specific needs, concerns, and goals for therapy. During this session, we鈥檒l discuss any challenges you鈥檙e facing, your emotional and mental well-being, and what you hope to achieve from counselling. This is also a time for you to ask any questions about the process.
Based on the information from our initial conversation, I鈥檒l tailor a personalised therapy plan designed to address your unique situation. Whether you're dealing with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, trauma, grief and loss, or any other life challenges, the plan will focus on your specific needs and goals.
Regular counselling sessions are conducted, either in-person, via phone, or through online video conferencing, depending on your preference. These sessions involve a Person-Centred therapeutic approach, depending on your needs and what resonates with you. Each session is designed to help you gain insights, develop coping skills, and make meaningful progress toward your goals.
Throughout our work together, I will provide ongoing support and guidance. We will periodically check in on your progress, assess any changes in your emotional or mental state, and adjust the therapy plan if necessary. The goal is to ensure you feel heard, supported, and empowered to take actionable steps toward healing and growth.
Everything discussed in our sessions is confidential. My goal is to create a safe, non-judgmental space where you can openly explore your thoughts and emotions. Trust is key in building a productive therapeutic relationship.
Once you feel that you've made significant progress and your initial goals have been met, we may discuss transitioning out of therapy. However, I always encourage clients to reach out if they need ongoing support in the future. Therapy is a process, and it鈥檚 okay to return for support whenever needed.
Practice description
Calming Minds Counselling.333 offers a safe, confidential, and supportive environment where clients can explore their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours with the guidance of a professional. The focus provides evidence-based therapeutic interventions that cater to a wide range of emotional and mental health concerns.
One-on-one sessions where clients can work through personal struggles such as anxiety, depression, identity issues, career challenges, or unresolved past trauma. I work collaboratively with the client to develop strategies for overcoming obstacles and achieving personal goals. Person-Centred Therapy provides an empathetic, non-directive approach where the counsellor provides a supportive environment for the client to explore their feelings and find their own solutions.
Calming Minds Counselling.333 prioritises a warm, non-judgmental, and inclusive atmosphere. A private space creates a safe environment for clients to open up. Remote counselling through video calls, makes therapy more accessible to those with geographical limitations. Confidentiality is a cornerstone of counselling practice. All information shared in sessions is kept private, unless there are concerns about safety (such as threats of harm to oneself or others). Counsellors adhere to ethical guidelines and professional standards set by relevant licensing bodies, ensuring that clients receive the highest level of care and respect.
People seek counselling for a variety of reasons, including: Mental Health issues such as anxiety, depression, and mood disorders. Major life changes like divorce, bereavement, or career changes. Self-improvement, building resilience, and gaining insight into one's emotions and behaviours. Communication issues, trust concerns, or conflict resolution. Addressing past trauma and its effects on current life. Counselling helps people understand themselves better, heal from past experiences, and develop the tools they need to lead more fulfilling lives.
My first session
It鈥檚 great that you鈥檙e taking the step to attend counselling! If you鈥檙e preparing for your first session, here are some general details about what you can expect, along with some tips to make the most of it:
What Happens in the First Counselling Session?
Confidentiality guidelines will be explained in that what you discuss will remain private (with some exceptions, like in cases of harm to yourself or others).
I may ask a variety of questions to understand your emotional and mental health. These could include questions about your history, current concerns, relationships, work, and other important life areas.
I may also ask about your physical health, as it can be linked to emotional well-being.
You鈥檒l likely discuss your goals for therapy, whether that鈥檚 coping with anxiety, managing stress, improving relationships, or something else. Setting clear goals helps guide the sessions and makes it easier to measure progress.
At the end of the session, you might discuss how often to meet (weekly, bi-weekly, etc.).
Reflect on what brought you to therapy and what you're hoping to address. It can be helpful to jot down any questions or concerns you may have.
It can be nerve-wracking to open up, but the more honest you are, the more effective the therapy will be.
Don鈥檛 feel pressured to share everything in one session. Therapy is a process, and you can go at your own pace.
If something is unclear about the process, don鈥檛 hesitate to ask. It鈥檚 important that you feel comfortable with me and therapy itself.
It鈥檚 normal to feel a bit anxious about your first session. Remember, I am here to help you in a supportive, non-judgmental way.
