About me and my therapy practice
I am an Integrative Counsellor, based on the Wirral. I offer face to face and online counselling, my counselling room is in Liscard and provides a confidential and safe space.
I offer a compassionate, empathic and ethical service where you can share your concerns at your own pace in a non-judgmental environment. I will listen and work with you to find ways to move past them to a place where you are more able to find peace within your life.
Primarily I work in a person-centred way, which means that I believe that, as individuals we are the experts in our own lives and we have the knowledge about what works best for us, but may need help exploring the options. As your counsellor, I would help you recognise the underlying problems and be with you as you develop a new way of being, that is stronger and more resilient to enable you to meet not only the current challenges but those you may encounter later in your life.
I have a lot of life experience and understanding of the struggles we all face. I have used counselling to help me through my own trials and understand how much someone really hearing you and listening to your troubles helps to sort out the confusion. By coming to counselling it can help you to regain control of your life and is an investment in yourself and your future happiness.
Practice description
My practice is called New Beginnings as each new day brings a fresh start and if we can truly live in the now and detach from negative influences of the past we can be who we were meant to be.
As an integrative counsellor, I am able to draw on a variety of methods and techniques to best assist you during our sessions, giving you the opportunity to grow and develop as best you can. I work creatively in a variety of ways to help you feel comfortable and able to open up in a safe space. I believe that the therapeutic relationship between the client and counsellor. built on trust and acceptance, is key to successful therapy. I aim to work with honesty and openness to deepen our therapeutic relationship.
I offer weekly sessions which are 50 minutes long.
Short term (6 to 12 weeks)
Therapy can be short term if you have a specific issue you would like to focus on.
Long term therapy (open ended)
My first session
I offer a free first session, lasting 30 to 45 minutes, as I feel it is important to find a therapist you feel comfortable with. During this session you can get an impression of me and we can talk about how we would work together. We will focus on what brought you to therapy and I will ask questions to build a picture of your situation and assess your needs and goals. If you decide you would like to continue we can arrange a time and day for your first counselling session.
If it turns out that you need a different therapist or therapy with a different skill-set I would be happy to make a suitable referral.
