About me and my therapy practice
Individual Counselling:
In individual counselling sessions I facilitate exploring whatever topic or issue you may bring on the day or continue to evaluate and work on a concern or subject matter from previous sessions. I will assist you to elaborate what matters to you and most importantly work with you at your pace.
As a therapist I offer a variety of counselling techniques (integrative approach) to accommodate you to the best of my abilities. I sometimes include creative activities where appropriate.
Life can pose many different challenges, changes and unexpected situations. It can be useful to evaluate your beliefs and ‘understanding of the world’ to establish what direction you would like to follow. Finding your own truth can help to understand yourself more, create connection to the self and others.
I provide a safe, empathic, and non-judgmental environment, where you will be listened to and heard. I believe that everyone deserves to be treated with respect, dignity, and positive regard.
Couples counselling:
In couples counselling I offer partners a safe space to explore their issues or a relationship crisis. Sessions often also are about re-connecting with each other and strengthen the couple's bond that may have become weakened or strained. I will support partners to establish each other's expectations, wishes and values for the relationship, which at times may have kept unexpressed. I assist couples to find ‘more’ understanding for each other, providing the opportunity to find ‘missing pieces’ collaboratively. I facilitate a space for identifying the couple's strengths whilst exploring the areas of their relationship they would like to negotiate, re-establish, or change together.
However, sometimes couples may discover that they no longer wish to stay together. In that case counselling can help to find ways partners would like to separate and move on within agreed expectations.
Practice description
I offer therapy sessions face to face at St. Catherine's House in Doncaster, located in the beautiful grounds of Woodfield Park. My room is private, welcoming, and comfortable.
There is plenty of parking with a café on site and close motorway connections for those travelling from outside Doncaster.
My first session
I offer a free 20 minute 'meet and greet' time online for clients, who would like to ask questions about counselling and what I can offer prior to any appointment.
During the first appointment I discuss the set-up and framework of the sessions. This includes the exploration of your expectations and whether we are a good match to work together. That also means ensuring that I work within my abilities and whether I believe that I could be helpful as a therapist for you.
Part of the counselling contract in the first session is agreeing on what you would like to achieve. I may use some assessment tools to support this process.
