About me and my therapy practice
I'm a Final Year Psychologist in Training as well as a Registered Counsellor.
I am trained in four therapy approaches called Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Humanistic, Systemic and Psychodynamic.
These methods of therapy vary in their basic principles (i.e., the way they understand people) and how they look and feel in sessions.
I use these approaches in combination to provide an ‘integrative’ experience which means that for each client different elements from the different approaches are used together.
I have 10 years experience working in the mental health sector with various conditions. A special interest of mine is in Neuropsychology and I have spent a significant proportion of time working in NHS and private practice Neuropsychological services.
Practice description
Working in collaboration we will develop a unique treatment plan to suite your individual needs and therapeutic goals. This means therapy with me can look and feel different from person to person.
Some of these approaches may feel more structured such as learning new skills and completing homework. Others may feel more experiential such as talking, exploring thoughts and reflecting in sessions.
Please click 'Discover More' on my website to see my full Therapy Contract for more information.
I have a natural curiosity, I am non-judgemental and deeply empathic. My practice is trauma-informed, so I adjust sessions to make sure counselling feels safe and accessible for you, no matter your past experiences.
My first session
Our first session together is an 'initial consultation'. This meeting will last for 50 minutes and serves as an assessment of your challenges.
We will establish what you hope to gain from therapy and how we can work together to achieve this. It’s also an opportunity for both of us to see if we’re a good fit, which is essential for effective therapy.
What I can help with
Abuse, ADD / ADHD, Anger management, Anxiety, Autism spectrum, Bereavement, Cancer, Cultural issues, Depression, Eating disorders, Health related issues, Identity issues, Loss, Men's issues, Mood disorder, Neurodiversity, Personal development, Phobias, Post-traumatic stress, Relationships, Self esteem, Self-harm, Sex-related issues, Sexual identity, Sexuality, Stress, Substance Dependency, Trauma, Women's issues, Work related issues
