About me and my therapy practice
Experienced, highly skilled, registered Psychotherapist, currently available for private work in well-located, comfortable rooms.
Have you been feeling low, or battling anxiety in your day-to-day life? Perhaps you feel lost or stuck, sensing a need for some sort of change yet unsure how to move forward. Maybe some of your behaviours are worrying you.
Reaching out for help or support when you need to is both courageous and necessary.
As a highly qualified Psychotherapist with experience across a wide spectrum of challenges, I can offer you a comfortable, collaborative space where, together, we can search for the answers you need.
From my welcoming rooms, we can make sense the feelings which have prompted you to seek support. Being offered the chance to reflect with an experienced therapist can help you find clarity, heal past wounds, and unearth the unconscious influences which may be preventing you from truly thriving.
Therapy has the power to help you reach a new level of self-awareness and understanding which can make change and growth not only possible, but inevitable.
About Me
• I specialise in helping those facing anxiety, depression, low self-esteem and addiction issues, although I am experienced in, and available to work across, a wide variety of mental health matters beyond these specialisms.
• I’m a fully registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists, the British Psychoanalytic Council and of Addiction Professionals.
• I hold an MSc in Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy from Birkbeck College, University of London, and further qualifications from CCPE and Tavistock Relationships. I have completed additional trainings in Mentalization Based Treatment, Group Dynamics, and Trauma-Focussed CBT.
• I am currently an NHS Honorary, helping patients in complex circumstances, and work as an Addiction Therapist at The Priory, with inpatients in recovery from a wide variety of addictions.
Practice description
What will therapy with me be like?
Work with me is based in acceptance, empathy and understanding, with an emphasis on developing a good working alliance with you so that we can reach valuable insights about you, together.
I take account of your real world experiences, including the impact of influences like trauma, gender identity, cultural or social background, so that the rich context of your world can inform our thinking around who you really are and the life you are creating for yourself.
The relationship which develops between us is used to gain insight into unconscious relationship patterns that have evolved since your childhood. What happens in the room between us can offer you powerful insights into how you meet and are met in the world.
Memories of early relationships are used to make sense of current challenges, and we can also use dreams as a gateway to better understand your unconscious fears or motivations.
As the process of change takes place, you can become more aware of the power of your unconscious to influence feelings or behaviour, which means you can grow more able to control your actions and responses.
The ultimate hope is that, through our therapy, you will become able to find more fulfilling ways of living your life, having understood what is influencing you in significant ways but has, until now, remained unseen.
My first session
I offer a complimentary telephone call, both to give us the chance to get a feel for one another, and so I can begin to understand what you are hoping to achieve in therapy.
The next step is an exploratory face-to-face session, to allow us to think together about what is really happening for you, why you feel psychotherapy could be the next step, and how our work might be helpful.
Should we decide after this to begin working together, sessions will last 50 minutes.
