About me and my therapy practice
Hello, my name’s Rebecca Corlett. A person-centred counsellor working with individuals, offering emotional support to adults 18+ for a range of issues including sudden loss and bereavement.
I aim to offer you a non-judgemental, safe and supportive environment where you can be heard and accepted and where you can explore and process your thoughts and feelings at your own pace. I am not here to advise you, or tell you what to do - I do not live your life and it's not my place - but we can work together and I can support you to explore and discover your own answers.
I have experience working with several counselling agencies including domestic abuse support agencies, and I continue to volunteer with the Road Victims Trust (RVT) working with clients affected by road collisions. I have experience working with a variety of presenting issues. These include but are not limited to:
Bereavement and grief
Carers
Discrimination
Experience working in elderly and palliative care and working with family members of aging adults
Family and relationships issues
Identity
Life transitions
Neurodivergence - with or without a diagnosis. Including, but not limited to: Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyscalculia Dyspraxia, Social Communication Disorder. I also work with people supporting neurodivergence (family, friends, carers)
Serious injury
Sudden loss
Witnesses of road death and serious injury
This list is not exhaustive and I am happy to work with you if you are experiencing common mental health problems, personal challenges, or wanting to explore and further your understanding of yourself in a safe space.
I have a special interest in neurodiversity and have experience working with both neurotypical, and neurodivergent clients, as well as those with other challenges and disabilities. I invite you to discuss with me anything you might need to make therapy more accessible to you.
Practice description
My private practice is called Sunflower Counselling. I work online using Google Meet, on the phone, and face-to-face from my room in Stevenage, Hertfordshire.
My first session
I offer a free 20 minute phone consultation to help you decide if I am the ‘right’ counsellor for you. You can use this time to ask me any questions and we can talk through how we might work together.
If you decide you'd like to work with me then you will be invited to book an initial assessment. Assessment is an important part of counselling and helps ensure that your needs and my skills and experience are well matched.
I encourage you to ask questions to help enable you to decide whether you would like to continue and book further counselling sessions with me.
