About me and my therapy practice

I am a fully qualified and registered Integrative Psychotherapist. I can provide short term counselling with a specific issue, or to support you through a particular life crisis. I also provide more longer term in-depth psychotherapy.

Life can be a struggle at times and I guess you are here because you are finding things difficult.  I can help you to explore, understand and work through your difficulties, enabling you to gain awareness, find a new perspective, and help you to feel better equipped to deal with life's challenges. I'm passionate about my work in enabling people to understand themselves better, to move through suffering and distress, towards change and personal growth.

As an integrative practitioner, I draw upon a range of theories and methods, enabling me to tailor the therapy to your individual needs. I have a down-to-earth style, and offer a warm, non-judgemental and empathic relationship, with the hope that you can feel truly heard, understood and accepted.

I strongly believe in the power of relationship in the process towards healing, self-acceptance, and growth. I therefore place great importance on the therapeutic relationship that develops between us, aiming to walk alongside you on your journey to a life of less suffering and more fulfilment.

My belief is that humans are naturally creative, and are constantly adapting to life's challenges. However, our present is often influenced by past experiences, and our ways of being that were once adaptive can become fixed. We can then get stuck in patterns of relating or behaving that may be unhelpful or self-defeating. I can help you to make connections to how your past may be impacting you now. I focus on your whole experience of mind, body, and emotions, to enable you to better understand yourself. Once we know ourselves better, we are then free to choose to accept ourselves, or explore the possibility of change, by trying out new ways of being.

Practice description

My training and experience enables me to work with a broad range of issues, life situations, and mental health needs. I work in a holistic way, with people rather than problems. I have worked with people from all walks of life and I value uniqueness and diversity.

My work is trauma-informed, in that I view mental distress through the lens of what has happened to us, rather than something being wrong with us. My focus will be on working alongside you, in putting together the pieces of your unique life story, and integrating those experiences in a way that is meaningful to you.

Prior to training as a psychotherapist I worked in the public sector for over 20 years, most of which as a senior mental health practitioner. I bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to my work, and I have a commitment to to life long learning in keeping up to date through continuing professional development.

I hold an MSc in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy, and I am registered with Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ and UKCP,  ensuring that I have undertaken rigorous training and that I adhere to the highest ethical standards.

I can meet with you in person in Stratford-upon-Avon or online. I work from Lifeways Therapy Centre, and I have a  private home therapy studio, which is a tranquil space in my garden.

A session lasts for 50 mins, and we typically meet on a weekly basis. The number of sessions depends greatly on the nature of the work and your needs and preferences.

If you feel after looking at my profile that I may be able to help, you can call me or email me in the first instance. We can then have a free brief chat about what brings you to therapy, and I can answer any questions you may have. If you then wish to meet, we can arrange a suitable time for an initial session.

I appreciate taking the first step in making contact is daunting, but I can guide you through it, and will take things at your pace.
