About me and my therapy practice
Welcome. Life can be stressful and challenging at times and you may have difficulty coping with overwhelming feelings.
Perhaps you feel angry, misunderstood, sad or without purpose. Or that something needs to change in your life.
Seeking help may feel an additional challenge and stopped you from reaching out in the past.
By working together , in an emotionally safe environment of compassion and empathy, I believe it is possible for you to bring about positive changes to your life.
The focus of therapy is solely on you and my non-judgemental approach allows you complete freedom to explore, express and deepen your understanding of yourself and your past and present experiences.
As a mature counsellor, with lived experience of relational and emotional difficulties, I have benefited from receiving therapy and completely trust in its process. It is this trust that inspired me to become a counsellor and drives my commitment to you and help you to become the best version of yourself.
From working in the NHS, I have a wealth of experience supporting individuals of all ages and diversity.
My extensive background includes working with individual adults and couples facing a variety of issues, including but not limited to, divorce and relationship challenges, family dynamics, anxiety, stress, depression, anger, adverse childhood experiences, addiction, self-harm, and low self-esteem.
Also driven by my roles in Palliative care, I offer expertise around loss and bereavement and living with long term conditions.
Practice description
As a qualified Integrative Counsellor/Psychotherapist, this means your sessions are tailored to meet your unique needs.
Drawing upon a variety of theoretical approaches and techniques, these are integrated seamlessly enabling us to explore, gain insight and develop practical strategies to empower you and achieve your goals.
The emphasis is working in a way that feels right for you
Our therapeutic relationship is key to effective therapy and trust and openness is essential. I will always be honest and open with you. It is your space to share and explore whatever you want and know that your unique lived experience will be valued and respected.
This will help us deepen our connection and allow for the vulnerability and depth of emotional exploration that often comes with therapy.
I practice from my tranquil, rural home near Manningtree and plus a hired therapy room in Colchester. Depending on location I offer home visits. I aim to be as flexible as possible to accommodate your needs.
I also offer concessions so please do not be afraid to ask if you are experiencing financial difficulties.
My first session
I offer a free 20-30 minute initial telephone consultation where you can tell me more about yourself and what you would like to achieve from counselling. This also also provides the opportunity to ask me any questions and get a feel of whether we can work well together.
