About me and my therapy practice

Welcome, 

I understand that life can at times feel stressful, and overwhelming for a variety of different reasons. 

Counselling can help you to understand your behaviour patterns, relationship difficulties, where your emotional triggers might come from. The process of being able to listen to yourself, to gain understanding in a calm non-judgemental space can be a powerful way to find personal growth and development and ease the pain of your trauma. 

I will be guided by what you bring to work collaboratively with you.  

In therapy with time and space it is possible for you to find a route to change, acceptance and peace. 

In my counselling practice I offer a calm non-judgemental space. I use a blend of Person Centred, Psychodynamic and CBT counselling styles to listen empathically to you and provide space for you to talk.

I am a qualified Integrative Counsellor. I have extensive experience of supporting people with a wide range of emotional needs.

I am committed to ongoing learning and regularly attend training courses to keep my knowledge and skills up to date. 

Prior to qualifying as a counsellor I gained a wide knowledge of working with different people from different backgrounds and life circumstances either in the commercial world of work or more recently working in the charity sector where I facilitated weekly bereavement groups supporting people through the pain of their bereavement and loss.

Practice description

The sessions that I offer are client led, meaning that I will be guided by what you bring to each counselling session. I will listen to what you bring in a non-judgmental way to offer you a confidential space to talk and explore where you are at. The counselling styles I use in the session will help to gently navigate thoughts, emotions and behaviours that might be unhelpful or holding you back.

I believe finding the right therapist for you is incredibly important, being able to sit with someone you feel comfortable with whilst you focus on your personal development is essential.

My first session

I offer an initial telephone consultation at no charge, so you can get a feel for how it is for us to talk together. 

Following our phone call if you decide you would like to work with me, we will agree on a mutually convenient time and day to meet. 

During the first session I will complete an initial therapy form with you, so you can talk to me about your hopes and goals for your therapy. 

I also offer a blank copy of the counselling contract for you to take away and read so that you know what to expect from the boundaries of our therapy sessions.
