About me and my therapy practice
Embark on a journey of self-discovery and growth with Whole Self Therapy. Whether you're a Gen Xer, Millennial, or Gen Z, let’s embrace the process and witness you step into a whole sense of being.
Counselling can be many things, a safe space to think, talk, share, cry, plan and understand yourself more. It means many things to people, and it can be a useful tool for a short or long time.
My work is integrative, which simply means, I integrate ideas and modalities of therapy to create a therapeutic experience just for you. I use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (thought, emotion and body sensation connections), Solutions-Focussed Brief Therapy (a solutions mindset), and Psychodynamic ideas (looking at the past and how it informs the present) influenced by Systemic (the culture, the people and the community's influences in your life), and Internal Family Systems theories (the idea that there are no 'bad' parts to you, all part of your experience has value), based on evidence and research to help you as we combat your difficulties and equip you with understanding and skills.
As I work in a highly relational and personal way with you, the therapeutic process tends to be more long-term and clients are more interested in understanding the roots of issues and difficulties and integrating this into their daily lives. I do offer short-term sessions for those who want more solutions-focused therapy.
Practice description
Therapy with a therapist who's been to therapy
Born and raised in India, the USA and the UK, I learned how to be in multiple cultural circles, hold different identities, and show up, especially when there were intersections of identity at odds.
Therapy was a place where I let all parts of myself be seated at the table. It wasn’t easy, but it was worth it.
After processing my own difficult experiences and finding more wholeness in my life, I began the process of training to provide that same space for others. While I may not be able to resonate and fully know your experience, I can appreciate what it means to sit in the seat and go through the process.
With me, we will:
• Understand the root causes and the impact of your difficulties on your life.
• Recognise how you notice experiences in your body and how they play out.
• Identify triggers and things that negatively impact you.
• Test tools for emotional regulation, helping you to feel and process your emotions in less destructive ways.
• Consider your core beliefs about yourself.
• Create places of safety for you to find rest in.
• Feel emotions, talk about them and use them to help you make decisions and understand more about yourself.
• Find ways for you to show up authentically as yourself.
• Consider how we can heal connections.
• Take time with your story.
• Help you step into a more authentic and whole life.
My work attracts Gen Xers, Millennials and Gen Z who want to process and work through: Unresolved Trauma in Adulthood, Sexual Addictions, Authentic Living, Life Crises, LGBTQ+ Experiences and Faith and Spirituality.
I am a culturally sensitive and aware counsellor who is also LGBT+ Affirming and welcoming of all peoples and backgrounds.
By the time we end, I hope that you can say:
I have learnt how to feel, share and step into my most real self. I feel I can now live life to the fullest and not live in fear and shame because I know I am enough.
My first session
There are 3 Steps to therapy
1. Fill out the Referral Form on my website or email me to enquire about therapy sessions. This form helps me to understand your goals for therapy and helps me to see if we might be a good fit. This will lead to...
2. A Free 20-minute Discovery Call will allow you to share in more detail about your referral form and plan...
3. An Initial Session will allow you space to share in depth about you, your situation and your circumstances, and also allow us to see if we are a good fit for therapy and from here we can book more sessions.
It is expected that sessions occur weekly or every 2 weeks as agreed in our initial session meeting.
As we work together we will take time in sessions to review our work and see if we are headed in a direction in line with your goals and values.
For those who are coming for addiction work, it is recommended that sessions occur weekly for the first few months of working together is possible.
It is important that we work well together and that we feel it is a good fit. As someone who has been to therapy, I know how important it is to feel that your counsellor is someone you can talk to freely without judgment or fear.
