About me and my therapy practice
Hello and a warm welcome,
I am a person-centred counsellor offering a warm, compassionate and accepting space to explore what is troubling you. I work with you with genuine interest and kindness to explore your thoughts, feelings and current difficulties. I am passionate about offering deep empathy to ensure you feel seen and heard in our time together.
This provides space for you to understand yourself better, make changes that might be needed and for you to 'emerge' into a more fulfilled self-aware person who can access a more meaningful life.
Many people find that having someone listening to deeply understand them can be incredibly healing. The supportive environment of Person-Centered Therapy helps you feel accepted, which can lead to greater self-acceptance and emotional growth. From having counselling you might begin to notice that you are being kinder towards yourself, feel more satisfied in life, have more understanding about your life, make healthier choices and relate to your world and those around you with more ease.
I also have an interest in Complex Trauma through the work of Janina Fisher enabling me to support you in making sense of past trauma that is impacting your life. Trauma is a process and can very much be alive in us, causing emotional blocks and distress, despite the event or events happening many years ago. I may draw on this practice or other theories to help you make sense of your current experiences in life.
I am also familiar with process work which can help build awareness of our inner world and how we can use this to navigate the world around us and connect with life on a deeper level.
Practice description
My core training is in Person Centred therapy, however I may draw on other theories included in my training, such as psychodynamic, TA and creative counselling to help you make sense of your current difficulties.
Complex Trauma: Trauma leaves an imprint that is both psychological and physical: even long after the traumatic events have ended, the body often continues to react as if the threat is still present. My view is that true healing happens in acknowledging what happened but also in transforming how the mind, body, and spirit continue to hold those memories. A key part of trauma therapy is befriending our nervous system and exploring our window of tolerance and how we manage strong emotions that are held in our body.
I offer counselling to those over 18 years old. My counselling experience includes short-term and long-term counselling and I have supported individuals with perinatal mental health and survivors of sexual abuse and domestic violence.
The Garden Room provides a warm, peaceful, confidential space for us to explore together what brings you to counselling. The Garden Room is based in Congleton, Cheshire.
