About me and my therapy practice
I am an integrative/pluralistic counsellor and psychotherapist specialising in psychodynamic, person centred and CBT and I am also trained in the effects of trauma. This allows me to work with you in a wider context to reach your goals by using different models. This will allow us to work together and uses different methods to achieve your goals. I have over 20 years of experience working in crisis and therapeutic contexts working with adults, teenagers and young people, working in a range of different settings to develop my skills.
Practice description
The first step is always the hardest. You cannot control the past but you do have the power to control your thoughts, behaviour and actions in present and the future.
I will provide you with a place that is safe for you to express your thoughts without feeling judged, embarrassed or ashamed. I believe that healing starts with a good connection and trust between client and therapist. My approach is warm, personable, and empathetic. Everyone deserves to feel heard, understood, and supported. I will make it my priority to ensure this takes place.
Life can bring unexpected challenges, whether it be in the past or present. Situations and circumstances may have left you in a position of suffering, immense pain or relentless sadness. This can lead to intense emotions which may be impacting you in the present or even your life choices.
Environment or external factors may have placed you in unsafe situations that may not have been in your control. However, the effect of this may remain with you, making life feel heavy and difficult to carry. This could be influencing your daily life be it work, relationships or your own sense of self.
Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, overthinking or any other emotional challenge, I will support you through helping you to identify the causes and finding ways you can navigate these difficulties.
My first session
The initial consultation is free which lasts about 20-30 minutes so you can get a sense of how i work but more importantly you feel safe in the space.
In our first session we will outline the goals that you would like to achieve and assess together how this can be achieved safely. This would have briefly been discussed in our consultation. It is important that we outline any difficulties this may present so that we can work through these together so safety and trust is maintained.
