About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I am Steph, a mother of two, a young person and an adult counsellor with a passion for helping individuals grow and reach their full potential.
Counselling is a valuable resource for adults, offering support and guidance across a wide range of life challenges and transitions. It's not limited to addressing issues but extends to nurturing personal growth and development in adulthood. Whether adults are grappling with work-related stress, relationship problems, mental health concerns, or coping with major life changes, counselling equips them with the tools to navigate these challenges effectively. It fosters self-awareness, helping individuals better understand their emotions, behaviours, and thought patterns. By working with a counsellor in a non-judgmental and confidential environment, adults can break down emotional barriers, enhance their communication skills, and build healthier, more fulfilling relationships. This process of self-discovery and personal growth often leads to increased resilience, self-confidence, and overall emotional well-being, helping adults lead more fulfilling and meaningful lives.
Counselling for young people isn't just about addressing problems; it's also about nurturing personal growth and development. It empowers them to make informed choices and set and work towards their goals, both academically and personally. Additionally, counselling can be instrumental in addressing issues like anxiety, depression, substance abuse, self-esteem challenges, and family conflicts, which are common among young people. By providing a non-judgmental and supportive environment, counselling helps young individuals break down barriers, improve their communication skills, and build healthier relationships with peers and family members. In the long term, the insights gained through counselling can have a profound impact on their well-being and set them on a path to becoming resilient, self-assured, and emotionally healthy adults.
Practice description
You will be assured a private and compassionate service from me, with a safe space to explore the feelings that may be stressful or painful to you. My role as your counsellor will be to support you every step of the way, no matter how difficult it may be. I will assist in leading you in a specific direction and this will be different for everyone as each experience and journey is unique.
You know you, but it is my job to see you for you, and building a relationship based on trust is something that we will build together to assist you in your journey.
Your journey may very well be extremely difficult, but if the horizon shows peace, understanding, self-awareness, and contentment, then together we will ensure that this is the outcome.
My first session
The first session is a no-commitment session where we meet each other and go through the counselling process and get an understanding of what you want from therapy, and if I am the right counsellor for you. If it is decided that we are both happy to go ahead, we will arrange regular sessions on a day/time suitable for us both.
