About me and my therapy practice

I’m a humanistic creative counsellor and psychotherapist working with clients online and face-to-face with adults, older adults, and young people. I work with people struggling with anxiety and depression, shame and low self-esteem, imposter syndrome/perfectionism, OCD, stress, trauma, family issues, and relationship problems including domestic abuse, childhood sexual abuse - yours or in the family - and navigating major life changes such as divorce and bereavement.

Clients experience me as warm, gentle, and insightful - like they finally have someone they can really talk to. I work to help you process and heal from past traumas and current difficulties with family members and other relationships, develop healthy coping mechanisms for anxiety and depression, build self-compassion and challenge negative self-talk, navigate work/life balance and career advancement, explore and redefine personal identity post-break-up or divorce, developing strategies for effective communication and boundary-setting.

I want you to find your authentic voice and feel confident in using it, to heal from past traumas and build resilience, to create a fulfilling life that aligns with your values and ambitions, and you to feel you are a positive role model for others.

About me and my therapy practice

Hi! I'm Jacqui. I am a Humanistic therapist integrating existential, Gestalt, and Person-centred theories, with creative modalities. What that means is the sessions are led by you and what you need in the moment. I will listen and ask questions. Sometimes, if you're feeling shy or stuck, it can be really helpful to work creatively as it takes some pressure off and allows space for your mind to settle and your imagination to flow. This can be a safe and gentle way to explore difficult emotions and challenging life situations like your own.

I offer compassion and understanding; a sense that there’s someone on your side, and "gets" you. My work is trauma-informed; I aim to flow with your unique nervous system and its varying capacity. As our work progresses I may check in with you as to how our relationship is going to help me support you in the ways that you require and desire and give you a chance to explore how our relationship may be reflective of other relationships in your life.

Before becoming a therapist, I coached and mentored groups of women to help them live empowered, fulfilling lives. I strongly believe that most of our difficulties arise from being hard on ourselves in ways that inhibit our growth and happiness. The various contexts we find ourselves in, like our families, work, and the culture at large, can profoundly affect us. We can explore who you become within these contexts.

Often, we're operating from a blueprint of beliefs gleaned from childhood experiences as interpreted by our very young selves. This, in turn, has created outdated and erroneous negative beliefs about yourself and what’s possible for you. Together, we can start to consider the validity of these ways of thinking and feeling in your life as it is now. This work can be done with or without exploring childhood experiences.

I believe you are infinitely loveable. I hope to act as a kind and gentle hand to hold on your journey toward a life filled with self-compassion, confidence, and joy.

About me and my therapy practice

I work in an Integrative and Humanistic way.

As we get to know each other better,  I will gently challenge negative thoughts, beliefs, and feelings about yourself. The creative exercises and theoretical modalities I use can help bring out hidden issues in a gentle, imaginative way that allows space to be curious and light-hearted in our work together. My work is trauma-informed; I aim to flow with your unique nervous system and its capacity.

I strongly believe that most of our difficulties arise from being hard on ourselves in ways that inhibit our growth and happiness. We're often operating from a blueprint of beliefs gleaned from childhood experiences as interpreted by our very young selves. This, in turn, has created outdated and erroneous negative beliefs about yourself and what’s possible for you.
