About me and my therapy practice
Is anxiety and overthinking taking over your life? Do you want to be empowered to be the real you? Do you wonder why you sometimes experience things differently to others? Do you identify with some neurodivergent traits or have you had a recent formal diagnosis of being neurodivergent or do you need support in accepting self-diagnosis? I can offer you an environment where it's safe for you to begin to explore, to be curious, to work out who you are in the world and celebrate your own uniqueness.
Inside the therapy room is open and fully inclusive to all, with a specialism in working with neurodivergent clients, ASD, ADHD, OCD. I work with adults individually but also offer sessions with partners and family members to provide a more holistic approach if required.
Who am I?
I am Paula, a qualified integrative therapist dedicated to providing neurodivergent affirming therapy. I am a therapist who can help you explore and understand yourself and your place in the world. I am friendly and accepting but also direct and open with a very honest transparent way of relating to others. I will always be as clear as I can about what I do and why whilst always welcoming your questions and feedback.
The key to therapy is the client/therapist relationship, that’s why it is so important to find a good match for you. To help with this I offer a free online 15-minute call so you can get to know me and to discuss our possible work together.
What can I offer?
A safe, comfortable environment to hear your worries, struggles, and concerns. A place for me to encourage your inner cheerleader to help you recognise your incredible neurodivergent strengths and abilities so we can celebrate who you are. Inside the therapy room offers you a space to be heard, validated, understood and empowered. Supporting a healthier relationship with yourself and to navigate your relationships with others.
Practice description
Why me?
As a result of my own lived experiences, I have chosen to specialise in working with neurodivergent clients, due to witnessing the challenges that can come with living in a world that is not always understanding or accepting of neurodivergent minds. I will provide a neuro-affirming environment for our work together. Inside the therapy room gives you space to express yourself and communicate your needs by exploring what needs weren’t met in the past and to understand how that may look in the here and now. Therapy not only for you but also for your partner and family members to encourage a clearer and deeper understanding of neurodiversity and of one another to enhance relationships and improve self-esteem and self-worth. Tools and strategies to enable you to be more of your true authentic self by encouraging curiosity, self-compassion and acceptance.
Therapeutic work experience and professional training.
I have a BA (Hons) Integrative counselling degree. I work relationally in the therapeutic space whilst drawing on different theories. I hold full insurance and am registered with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ). I undertake regular supervision and am committed to my ongoing professional training and development.
I have recently undertaken additional specific training to complement my professional and personal experience in this area. Other professional work settings include working for a low-cost counselling service offering online therapy to clients who presented with a wide range of emotional issues. I have experience working within a hospital offering face-to-face therapy to clients who have recently completed treatment for cancer or who have recently been diagnosed. I recently worked part-time in a local hospice providing therapy for adults and children who have been bereaved, or families and patients receiving palliative care. I hold a current DBS and am up to date with safeguarding training.
