About me and my therapy practice

Are you feeling overwhelmed? Struggling to make any sense of your life? Perhaps you feel completely stuck and you're looking for some direction or you just need a safe and supportive space to talk?

Whatever your reason you are very welcome here.

I'm Lorraine an Integrative Counsellor and I work with adults of all ages and young people (13+) both in person, online and outdoors.

I'm empathic, warm and friendly and my aim is to make sure you feel comfortable and informed throughout our work together.

My core 'person-centred approach' supports you in a space where you can be heard, free from judgement and opinion; a place where you feel supported and safe enough to explore all aspects of your difficulties at a pace that's right for you.

Throughout my work, I make use of other theories and interventions to offer sessions that are as individual as you. There is no one size fits all!

Younger clients generally work in a more creative way within the room and consideration to how a young person might best access counselling is always discussed in our first session.

Practice description

I have experience in many areas including working with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, anger management, self confidence, bereavement and the many transitions and changes we experience throughout life.

I also have experience supporting neurodivergent clients with a new or self identifying diagnosis.

I specialise in working with adults who have experienced domestic abuse personally or have witnessed an abusive or narcissistic relationship as a child.

I also welcome and support clients who self-harm or experience suicidal thoughts.

I also work with teenagers 13+.

This list isn't exhaustive so please don't feel you can't be supported if your issue doesn't appear here. Please do get in touch.

My background is varied but is mainly rooted in business and education and I have a wealth of experience working with children and young people with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities).

My first session

I offer a free 15 minute conversation to answer any initiaI questions or concerns and to see whether we feel like we could work together. I'd urge anyone who feels unsure to call and make use of this chat as there is no obligation to continue.

If you did feel you wanted to move forward we will go ahead and book your first session.

In our first session, we will discuss your hopes and goals for our work together and I will begin to find out about you and the difficulties you are experiencing.

From here we will continue to work together on a weekly or fortnightly basis.  Reviews will take place at regular intervals to assess your progress as well as check in on your current needs and goals.

Counselling can be both short and long-term and can be experienced in person in my warm, welcoming environment based in the beautiful Cromford Mills.

I also work online via the Zoom platform anywhere in the UK.

I also offer Walk and Talk Therapy at various venues.
