I work days and into the evenings Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and normal working hours Thursday and Friday. This can be flexible. I normally keep weekends free, so if you decide to contact me over the weekend it may be Monday that I respond to you.
I always try to respond same day, but I promise to get back to you within 3 days.
About me and my therapy practice
In my practice our relationship is the most important thing. I work with a lot of people that have had less than ideal experiences with counselling or are nervous to come to counselling. my goal is to make you as comfortable as possible. I work with a large variety of mental health challenges and normally focus on achievable change.
Normally my work revolves around exploration of feelings and figuring out what people may want, and then helping them work towards those changes, such as supporting them seeking different types of support or helping them make changes to their behaviour and thoughts.
I know that taking a step towards counselling is not an easy decision, so I will do my best to make sure that you feel safe and comfortable wherever possible, I am happy to make adjustments to suit your needs, as much as I can. I like to be myself in the counselling room, and make sure that you feel authenticity in our sessions.
Practice description
I offer a free intro call so we can get to know each other a little. Asking questions about different aspects of your life like your support networks, and exploring what your challenges are.
Ideally I work weekly, but I understand this isn't going to work for everyone. Fortnightly is sometimes a better option for people for a number of reasons. The best changes are seen with consistent weekly sessions.
I send mood quizzes out when we review, for clients to do if they want to.
I also send any information that you may need over after the intro call, so you can have a look before committing to sessions.
My first session
In a first session we do a lot of figuring out, I go through the therapy contract, and explain it and normally set goals for therapy. To see where you're at, and where you want to be.
