About me and my therapy practice

I understand how visible and hidden stresses as well as changing circumstances within our lives can often result in difficult experiences which impact on our mental and physical health. My experience is in working with adults and young people, individually on a range of presenting issues including trauma, trauma related issues or symptoms (such as PTSD), anxiety, depression, personality adaptations or disorders, as well as other mental health symptoms. I have experience of working with relationship issues, family issues and also bereavement, grief and loss. In addition to this I am aware of how to work with neurodiversity within the therapeutic setting. I provide a welcoming and safe space for clients to explore any concerns and symptoms relating to their current life experiences. I recognise the importance of enabling clients to understand their presenting issues within the context of their daily lives and their relationships. As I am a member of UKCP and Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ, I refer to both codes of ethics and use these as a guide when working with all individuals.  I also work as a psychotherapist with children and young people on both short term and longer term capacity.

Practice description

My psychotherapy training is in 'Transactional Analysis from an Integrative Perspective', through completing a level 7 post graduate diploma awarded by the Manchester Institute of Psychotherapy. Which is where I also completed a certificate in Trauma Informed Practice. Within therapy sessions I work with individuals using transactional analysis from a relational understanding as well as integrative perspective, in addition to this I practice using a trauma informed approach. I find this is useful as often clients may be unaware of the physical, emotional and mental impact of some of their more difficult life experiences. I work with individuals to provide greater context and understanding of presenting issues and the impact these issues may have on them emotionally, mentally and physically; through looking at current issues and creating a safe space to explore the impact of significant previous experiences. Where appropriate, I offer psychotherapeutic resources to support clients with in their daily lives.  More recently I complete a post-graduate qualification and was subsequently awarded a certificate in working with couples.

My first session

I carry out initial sessions for individuals to see if my approach is suitable for them and to create an agreement of how we can work together. It also provides an opportunity to understand more about the benefits of psychotherapy when working with varying presenting issues such as trauma, anxiety and depression and other mental health presentations. During a first session I am likely to inquire about current presenting issues, general well being and any expectations or motivations for therapy. As well as beginning to explore the ways in which therapy may be beneficial and supportive.

Initial sessions lasting 50 minutes (cost £55) where presenting issues can be discussed at length and also where possible contracts are explored and where information is given and acquired for therapy to continue. Subsequent therapy sessions cost from £55 for daytime sessions and from £60 for evening sessions. While short term contracts are for a minimum of 6 sessions, longer term contracts can be open ended.  Concessional session costs begin from (£50).
