About me and my therapy practice
I am a PhD level psychotherapist, with 14 years of experience providing therapy to adults and young adults. I approach therapeutic work with the main goal of understanding yourself better, so you are able to think about and live the life that seems most meaningful to you. I understand how it can feel challenging to begin work with a therapist, and aim to create a space for you that can feel safe, accepting and non-judgmental.
I have helped clients navigate and deal with several concerns such as depression, anxiety, eating difficulties, problems in relationships, changing identities, grief, past trauma etc. I have also developed a specialist area of interest in women’s health, including mental health concerns during pregnancy, postpartum periods, motherhood and career development.
In addition to my work as a psychotherapist, I also work as a university lecturer and have a PhD in Counseling Psychology from the University of Maryland (UMD), College Park. I previously completed Masters degrees in Rehabilitation Counselling (also from UMD) and Clinical Psychology (from Delhi University).
I am Indian by origin and currently living in London.
The use of the title Dr in this directory listing relates to the member’s doctorate qualification. However, this does not imply a general medical qualification.
Practice description
I predominantly use a relational, psychodynamic framework, though I have been trained in a number of different psychotherapy approaches and can work with you to see what approach would best fit your needs. I have worked as a therapist in the United States, India and the UK and thus, pay close attention to the cultural context of the clients I work with.
My first session
I offer a 15 minute phone consultation to see how I can best help you with your current needs. If you decide to meet after, we can set up an initial consultation in person or online. In this first session, I attempt to get a more detailed sense of your needs and hopes, and tell you more about what you can expect from therapy.
