About me and my therapy practice
My approach is active, open and transparent, allowing you to understand how the counselling process is progressing. Working from a place of curiosity, I help you to gain a deeper understanding of yourself by exploring your needs, motivations and patterns, empowering you to gain freedom and choice in your decisions, and to effect change in your own life.
I have extensive experience of helping clients work through life transitions such as divorce or parenthood, family conflict, depression, anxiety, issues of identity, bilingualism, relocation issues, and relationship and intimacy issues; whether in a relationship or searching for one. My work is culturally sensitive; recognising, understanding and respecting the diverse cultural factors that influence beliefs, values, behaviours and experiences.
Practice description
I strongly believe that the therapeutic relationship between client and counsellor is the key element in effective counselling. Sharing experiences of difficulties can help to find parts of ourselves that have been forgotten, strength and resilience that we didn't know we had, and hope. I provide a warm and welcoming space, free of judgment, supporting you to explore that which brings you to therapy. You might be struggling with a change in your life, negotiating complicated family relationships, or a painful past you feel ready to revisit. Whatever you bring, I can help you find some clarity and healing as we work towards you experiencing greater fulfilment in your life.
My first session
Whether or not you have had therapy before, working with a new therapist can feel daunting. I offer a free 15-minute phone call for you to see how working with me might be, as well a chance to explore what you might hope to achieve from therapy. We can address any questions you might have.
If you would like to continue, we might agree a limited number of sessions or open-ended counselling which would allow us to work at a deeper level.
In either case, I use an integrative approach, meaning that I integrate several modalities to tailor my approach to best suit your specific needs.
I offer in-person and remote counselling. In-person sessions are in an accessible building.
