About me and my therapy practice

A warm welcome, I’m Imogen, a qualified and registered psychotherapist. I know starting therapy can be daunting, but it can also be the most empowering and fulfilling experience. As a therapist, and someone who has gained a lot from therapy myself, I know the importance of feeling the trust, care and safety needed in the therapy room. I aim to always create an environment where you feel safe, comfortable and supported.

Life can be unpredictable and challenging, leaving us feeling lost, anxious, or overwhelmed. My role is to provide a space where you can openly explore what’s on your mind. Whether you’re facing anxiety, depression, life transitions, or unresolved past experiences, my approach is centred on listening without judgment, offering guidance when needed, and supporting you in a way that respects your pace and comfort.

I believe that by understanding our past and its impact on the present, we can make sense of our experiences and start moving forward with greater clarity. With years of experience working with children, families, and adults, I have a deep understanding of how early life experiences shape us and can influence our relationships, self-esteem, and decision-making as adults. Together, we can explore these connections, allowing you to gain insight, resolve painful patterns, and develop tools for lasting change.

Practice description

My style of therapy is based on helping you understand your unconscious thoughts and emotions, and how they influence your behaviours and actions. I also work with techniques based on helping clients accept themselves by offering a client-led approach. This means that I encourage you to take control of your own life and empower you to lead the direction of the therapy. This supports your ability to discover yourself and understand your own wants and needs.

I feel that building a therapeutic relationship is paramount to enable trust to develop and allow you to feel safe to share. I aim to make you feel comfortable to explore your therapy goals, supporting you to make sense of them and empower you to understand yourself and your experiences better. I have worked and continue to work with clients from all walks of life and provide a safe, non-judgmental space to explore what might be troubling you.

I aim to help you build the tools and strength you need to create a life of healing and possibilities. Let’s work together to build the confidence, resilience, and self-understanding that will enable you to create the life you envision.

Let’s start that journey together.

My first session

Our first few sessions will be about building the therapy relationship. This starts with me asking you a bit about you, what brings you to therapy and a little about your family history.

Once you feel comfortable we can look at what you might need from therapy. We can start to go deeper and see if we can make some sense of your thoughts, feelings, your past and present experiences and your relationships with friends, family and romantic partners. Looking at your past relationships will help me understand how you relate to people and it will give me some understanding about who you are as a person.
